I imagine that the reason Josh found an increase in speed was due to the fact that the PPP software he was running ate up enough memory to slow the process down even more. In My oppinion, the termination of the connection stoped the flow of data to his machine as well as the ammount of memory being used. I have watched the hard drive light on my machine run, and I rarely see it run when it's loading a DOS drive in E/D... So what ever it's doing, it's doing IN MEMORY. just a thought ... But worth bringing up. ; ) Also, I have tried E/D in a Windows 95 dos window, and at a Dos 7 prompt. For understandable reasons the CD-ROM drive won't work under a Windows 95 window and so I just set the properties to exit to dos and then load.(under advanced options). It takes a long time to load either way.
