  15. I'm not sure if this has come up yet, but since executor doesn't have
  16. network support, could it at least support the netatalk method of keeping
  17. resource forks in a .AppleDouble directory?  (how about a non-defaulted 
  18. command-line option?)

  20. I suppose since I have netatalk source I could recompile it to use
  21. %name-style forks, but that's ugly--I suspect when linux is able to import
  22. appleshares, it'll also represent resource forks in ".AppleDouble"  (also
  23. netatalk comes with linux tools for compressing/decompressing which use
  24. its scheme)

  26. Although it's only halfway there (there isn't support for importing from
  27. other macs yet), *boom* you'd have executor able to deal correctly with
  28. files which are in turn exported on appleshare.

  32. background: netatalk allows linux (and quite a few other unixes) to export
  33. files and printers to an ethertalk network.  resource forks are emulated
  34. by putting the fork, with the same name as the data fork, in a directory
  35. ".AppleDouble" (see http://www.umich.edu/~rsug/netatalk/)

  38. here, it's extremely cool, I've even backed up macintosh files by burning
  39. iso-9660 cdroms but with the .AppleDouble directories so I can pop it into
  40. my linux box, export it to the macs, and have them see files with their
