- howdy folks,
-
- i just spent the last 1.5 hrs playing with svgalib 1.2.8 and
- executor-svga. i'm running linux 1.2.11, STB Powergraph 64 card w/
- 2MB.
-
- the new svgalib builds with ease for ELF i should mention.
- unfortunately, i'm not so sure i'll use this lib version. it's a pain
- to have to have X running at the same time.
-
- the problem: after running executor-svga the display is screwed up
- (unusable).
-
- one solution: run executor-svga after starting an X session and moving
- back to the console. after exiting executor-svga the console display
- will be ruined. switch to X and then back to the console and things
- will be fine.
-
- old solution: include the ramdac line in your /etc/vga/libvga.config
- file. this only works for the supported cards (not the trio_64
- evidently). although the display is fine after exiting executor-svga
- if this line is included, executor-svga does not display properly so
- it sort of defeats the point.
-
- so, it seems that those of us unfortunate enought to have this card
- are out of luck. i'd be interested in anyone's opinion of this card
- in any event. is it good? it works nicely for X and DOOM but perhaps
- it's not the best card for linux?
