Date: Wed, 13 Sep 1995 11:27:21 -0500 From: Alan Shutko <ats@hurd193.wustl.edu> Sender: owner-paper@nacm.com Precedence: bulk I wanted to mention the success I have had with SVGAlib (ELF) Executor. I have a Tseng w32p card (et4000 based) with a ps2 mouse, running Linux 1.2.13 with the ARDI patch. Executor starts up perfectly, and runs great. There are a few things I noted. * When starting, SVGAlib finds a linear frame buffer. However, on use, it says it has 1024K ram, but only 512 can be used for linear buffer. * When using speedometer, running through the graphics tests, some screen modes are garbage. It looks like there is some kind of memory mismatch between what Executor or SVGAlib expects, and what it actually gets. After running the graphics tests, Executor wouldn't accept clicks and I ^C'd out. Could these be related? Is there a way to tell SVGAlib not to use the linear framebuffer? Another comment on the mouse: I have a ps2 mouse, and the kernel driver won't allow it to be shared by applications. I have been running mconv2 to allow apps to share the mouse, but it apparently lacks the SIGIO support which executor needs. Anyone have any ideas on how I can have X running while using Executor? All in all, it's amazing. I love it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alan Shutko <ats@hubert.wustl.edu> - The Few, the Proud, the Remaining.
