Bleeding Edge is worse. To: executor@nacm.com Message-ID: <Pine.3.89.9508181319.A27636-0100000@gold.tc.umn.edu> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-paper@nacm.com Precedence: bulk I love seeing those Bleeding Edge releases... I'm not sure if anyone else has seen the same problems I have or not, so I thought I'd post some of my experience with the latest Bleeding Edge (199o4). I'm using E/L on a PCI-bus 486DX2 w/ an S3-Trio Video card: 1) SimCity 2000 loads for the first time ever! (Thanks to the new -system 7 command!) I get the title screen, and can go past to what appears to be the "playing" mode... (I'll explain..) There are some odd quirks that may be good for ARDI to debug. First off, the window that says "This copy is Registered to..." doesn't pop-up in the center of the screen as does a true-mac. Secondly, the "mini-menus" appear to be gibberish--just a bunch of pixel dust... Are these just system seven specific things that don't work yet? 2) Microsoft Word5.1a doesn't work anymore... :-( I'm at work, so I can't tell you the exact error now, but If someone wants to know, I'll tell you. (I'm sure ARDI either already knows this, or its a matter of some config files that were changed and not included in the Bleeding Edge...) Its looking great! Looking forward to full Sys7 support (not to mention drop in OS replacement support in the future. By the way, I have seen a "look and feel" enhancer for the macintosh on my friends machine a while back. It basically changed the graphics for the windows, scrollbars, file icons, etc... Does anyone know if this would work on executor? Or have any idea of how I could get it to work? (Is this is what is called an INIT? could I simply drag+drop it onto the hot band?) Jeff Halverson
