You can compress/decompress *.zip in MSDOS, Amiga, Mac, Unix, Apple ][, VAX, ..... Moreover, it is more easy to handle zip file than Gzip as zip can handle a group of files with full/partial path(directory) and delete or add a single file to the archive is more easier. I prefer zip ..... If talking about shareware or freeware or GNU software, I prefer lha as it is free and powerful.... Yours, Thomas
