Message-ID: <Pine.SV4.3.91.950802144028.17840A-100000@mirage> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-paper@nacm.com Precedence: bulk Hello! First, I wanna say thanx (yet again) to ARDI for creating this nifty and absolutely wonderful Macintosh emulator! v1.99o seems to be stable both under my PC-DOS 6.3 setup and in a VDM under Warp, and I'm very very happy with it. Just tested the diskette formatting this morning, and it works! I noticed one change, tho, between v1.99n4 and v1.99o. The freeware game Glypha III (a nice 640x480x256 Joust clone) now seems to have a problem drawing the moving sprites. v1.99n4 worked fine, I think. v1.99m did for sure. But with v1.99o, the images seem to have extraneous white elements, and the image representing the player will not draw properly when facing in one direction (the other seems fine). I submitted Glypha III to the unofficial ARDI pages games list, so others that want to check it out (and maybe confirm the bug?) should feel free. That game and Shatterball are admittedly my two main uses for the emulator right now <grin>. One other thing: except for video (I'm using VESA 1.2), E/D 1.99o under DOS beats my Mac IIci here at work, at least according to Speedometer. I just upgraded my 486DX/33 to a 486DX4/100 (Intel OverDrive via processor swap), and that helped out quite a bit. :-) It's about twice as fast as the IIci in the benchmarks now on the average. Here are a few numbers I see for comparison (maybe others can post theirs?): SpeedoMeter 3.23 CPU Disk Math Bench Ave. ----- ---- ------ --------- Mac IIci 6.36 1.49 25.78 14.87 E/D v1.99o on 486DX4/100 15.87 1.66 43.65 24.16 I get slightly lower numbers in a VDM under OS/2, but I tend to run a lot of disk monitors and other things in the background. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -Rich Steiner >>>---> rsteiner@skypoint.com -> Bloomington, MN The Theorem Theorem: If If, Then Then. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
