  17. I try not to clutter up the list with things like this, but perhaps by
  18. doing this once, people will see the error presented here and won't
  19. ever do it themselves if and when it's time to order Executor via FAX.
  20. If you do not know anyone from Germany who recently ordered a license
  21. for Executor/Linux, feel free to read no further.

  23. Yesterday I received a FAX that has these words electronically
  24. produced by the transmitting FAX machine.  At the top is:

  32. In the middle of the paper is a handwritten note that says:

  36. Since our institute does not have a Credit card
  37. (neither do I), I was allowed to use the card
  38. of a friend.  Please charge for one license
  39. of Executor/Linux at the price of $49.

  56. Now I've deliberately changed the credit card numbers to "x"s for
  57. obvious reasons, but I honestly can't read the Juergen's last name,
  58. nor do I know the author's name, although "Edward" may be it.  I can't
  59. get our FAX modem to connect to either the FAX number in the body or
  60. the one at the top of the FAX.  I don't know what institute our friend
  61. is talking about, and I don't speak German, so calling those numbers
  62. and hoping to speak to a person isn't yet practical.

  64. I'm hoping that the person who sent this FAX is on this list.  If not,
  65. I'll have to figure out what town in Germany is 3591 (or maybe 359, or
  66. 35, or 3).  Or perhaps someone knows what "ALPHA 2005 GMBH BAUTZEN"

  69. Thanks for any help you can provide me.  If you're thinking about
  70. sending us a FAX, please think very hard about the possibility of
  71. sending it via a FAX modem, or if that is impossible, about the
  72. possibility of printing the letter rather than writing it by hand, and
  73. *of course* put enough information to uniquely identify yourself --
  74. I've checked my recent e-mail, but I get so much e-mail that I could
  75. be overlooking someone.
