I've been trying to figure out the following problem for days now:
How do I set up a PIF file to enable Executor to run twice at once? (The
only way to do Executor Multitasking at this point.) I've tried allocating
a limit of XMS as small as 512 and as large as -1 (as much as wanted by the
application) and conventional as small as 210 and as large as -1, and setting
the second PIF to -1 on all... the first always runs just fine... the second
always says "Not enough DPMI memory." (By the way, the numbers above are
in Kilobytes.)
Anyway, I have approx. 4 Meg of true physical RAM which should be
available at Executor run time to run it... shouldn't that be enough to
run it twice? (Barely...) I mean, that leaves about .5 Meg to run the applzone
on, which will work (I've tried it...)
Does anyone know how to set the PIFs? Or how to ensure that Windows leave
s
as much physcial RAM available as possible (i.e. use up virtual memory and
softRAM first -- softRAM is not interfering, by the way. Already checked that.)
