Apple's "Apple Double" format is so brain dead that most programs that have to stor Mac files on a non-Mac filesystem use their own format, and netatalk is just one example of this. However, there are so many of these (AUFS is different, uShare is different, etc.) that right now we stick with the "standard" and will deal with the others later.
