  23.     Don't be afraid.  Executor runs just fine under Windows95, and 
  24. runs the same under the Win95 version of DOS (you can boot to a command 
  25. line; the ver command gives "Windows 95 [4.00.474]" or some such thing) 
  26. and under the "previous version of DOS" which Win95 also supports.  It 
  27. runs fine from the graphical part too, though one must tell it how much 
  28. memory to use.  And the filesystem is essentially the same as FAT, but 
  29. adds on some other information; there are new versions of Norton, etc., 
  30. coming out to run under Win95.  The reason one can't use old utilities is 
  31. because either (1) they need to directly address the disk in a way Win95 
  32. won't allow (meaning that they probably wouldn't run under Win3.1 either) 
  33. or (2) that even if given direct access (outside of the GUI) they would 
  34. mangle or choke on the 255-character filenames.  Since you can boot from 
  35. DOS 6 on a Win95 partition (and then run Win3.1), there's no need to have 
  36. a separate partition the way OS/2 requires.  I haven't tried giving 
  37. Executor direct disk access--that might not work--but otherwise, 
  38. everything works.
