  7. I've bought Executor 1.2 way back last July.  I recently had time to play 
  8. with 1.99m.   Where do I get the registration key/serial number from?  I 
  9. don't see that information within the manual, nor on the original disks.
  10. I've sent a letter to Cliff last week asking about this and received no 
  11. reply.   What now?  I looked carefuly and did find that I had forgotten 
  12. to send the registration card, so I filled it out and sent it, but still 
  13. no info from Ardi.  (But regardless, since I bought Executor >FROM< ARDI 
  14. I shouldn't have had to even fill out a registration card!)

  16. Regarding the Shell:

  18. Also: I like the go shell very much.  I noticed that ARDI wants to make 
  19. it a bit different from the finder.  Here are some suggestions which 
  20. would make it an improvement over the finder:

  22. Each window should have several buttons to sort by name, size, date, and 
  23. unsorted icon.  I hate the fact that the icon views are not moveable.  I 
  24. can't drag an icon in a new position.  While having it sorted 
  25. automatically is cool, perhaps a way to not have it sorted would be better.

  27. The View by menu in the Finder is nice, but it would be nicer if there 
  28. were buttons on each window for the viewing (one of them being unsorted.)
  29. So you'd have Sort by: Name, Size, Date, Version, None as a class of 
  30. radio buttons, and another set with List, Small Icon, and Icon.

  32. The "Sort by: none" selection would let me place the icons wherever I'd 
  33. want to, so I can organize icons in any way, differently for every window.

  35. These could also be made into pop-up menus to save space.

  37. Bugs:

  39. I also noticed a small bug... it's possible to shrink a window down so 
  40. small that the scroll bar arrows and thumb control overlap.  Infact, this 
  41. is the default state of the System folder!

  43. Window Title Bars

  45. Another shell bug is with the Window titles.  On 486/33 (CSS brand) 
  46. machines, the shell program (haven't noticed apps doing this) refreshes 
  47. the window title bar several times.  This being a slow machine is very 
  48. visible... I can see the lines drawn, and then redrawn later.  I wouldn't 
  49. mind the current window being another color than the background window so 
  50. I can tell which is in the front.

  52. I'm not a great fan of horizontal lines on the window title bars, so I'd 
  53. be happier with just a solid title bar (like in X Windows, or like in the 
  54. NeXT WDEF for the Mac) especially if it means it'll be faster.

  56. Icons:

  58. The normal mouse pointer is great, but I really dislike the "Z" icon. 
  59. It's not animated, and it doesn't tell the user the machine is busy.  
  60. Perhaps a moving hourglass, or watch or even a steaming cup of coffe 
  61. (that was used by Gem) would be better.

  63. I notice the shell shows an Omega menu instead of the Apple icon.  This 
  64. is silly because when you run an application, the application displays 
  65. the Apple icon anyway.  If displaying an apple icon is a copyright issue, 
  66. how about something else, like the "earth" icon?  Or some other well 
  67. designed icon?  (Actually on my Mac, I removed the Apple icon and 
  68. replaced it with a skull, now that would be really cool.)
