X-Genie-Id: 1607552 X-Genie-From: G.SIGHTLER Sender: owner-paper@nacm.com Precedence: bulk Ok, guys, I have just SOLVED the big mystery of why downloading AOL files does not work. AOL files are not encoded in the usual way and include a header which is normally decoded when they are downloaded on the MAC, however, AOL for Windows does not do this. :( This makes it practically impossible to download a MAC file from AOL, even if you put a pseudo resource fork on it. The Solution: strip the header off of the file. There is an 8K file on AOL called "CHOP.EXE" that will do just that. After this program has been used you should be able to make a pseudo- resource for for your file and it should work without difficulty (though I must admit that I have not had the opportunity to test this, I don't see why it wouldn't work, and in fact this is the same problem that many had with using the PC version of UNSTUFF with AOL files). ||||| Jesse D.
