Then we could get an idea of the difference ISA/VESA makes. Welp, I ended up buying such a card off someone here on campus. It ends up making some difference, but for programs like the rotating globe program I'm not seeing much of a change. I'm still planning on keeping the board for other reasons (such as I can populate to 2MB). However, in my testing I found out something very interesting. -privatecmap _slows down_ some programs dramatically, notably Civilization. It would be nice to find out if anyone else knows of programs that are somewhat usable without a private colormap and that are almost totally unusable (due to speed concerns) with a private colormap. This really surprised me, as all my inuition (and information) pointed to -privatecmap as being decidedly faster. --Toby Everett
