  26. I think Bombs does this because it notices that sound isn't working,
  27. and our code to display system error messages has some problems.  In
  28. the case of Bombs, with "pretend sound" it get farther but it will
  29. hang, because pretend sound doesn't pretend well enough.  I worked on
  30. this a while ago, but it turned out that fixing Bombs broke other
  31. programs.  Sigh.  We need real sound support.  :-)

  33. Turning on "pretend sound" before running something is always a good
  34. thing to try when apps seem to get unhappy early on.  Use alt-shift-5
  35. to bring up the options panel that lets you set this.
