  1. This is an extensive report that covers the following aspects of 1.99L    
  2.     -Browser ERRORS (too many)    
  3.     -Browser suggestions    
  4.     -Windows and DPMI report    
  5.     -Apps errors    
  6.     -Apps that finally WORKS PERFECTLY    
  7.     -Others    
  8.     
  9. All the test have been reproduced several times in two different machines.    
  10. thought the reports (with executor output data) are only from A.

  32. Browse Errors:    
  33. ==============    
  34.     
  35. -When using exuser.hfv the browser dont remeber we were using this volume    
  36. and we have to open it from the hot band again and again and again...    
  37.     
  38. -While copying a diskete to exuser.hvf using go, icon by icon, more than (10)    
  39. the brower overwrited all i have in the HD and only show the news icons.    
  40. HFS_XR shows only the new icons too (Only reproduced twice and without cache)    
  41.     
  42. -Using HFS_XR (or what ever you name it) under browser make the sistem    
  43. very unstable (normaly hanged).    
  44.     
  45. - When moving a folder to  another in the same Hard DisK, it hangs     
  46. (CRL-INTERR escapes) for example if I have    
  47.     GAMES    
  48.      ARCADE    
  49.       MAELSTROM DEMO    
  50. and try to move MAELSTRON DEMO to GAMES, the cursor converts to a down    
  51. arrow while i move on the same HD folder and change to square-dot cursor    
  52. in others HD folders! Then if i release on games folder it says PBcat    
  53. error and hangs when I say Abort. (Continue show the error again)    
  54.     
  55. -When creating a folder or moving an icon inside a folder the old    
  56. icon remains there till you reopen the drive.     
  57.     
  58. - When I try to delete anything it shows error window, but it deletes the    
  59. program!    
  60.     
  61. -If I try to open a doc by clicking on it, and having the aplication that    
  62. created it not on the same folder it hangs and when i restart browser, i     
  63. have lost the icon (the W icon, e.g.) of the document and find the     
  64. normal icon of a doc. (with or without disk cache) (sometimes all the     
  65. docs from the same app lost their icons, trying to load only one)    
  66.     
  67. -The same things happens to apps recently copied to Hfv. If I copy     
  68. one, execute then and it hangs, when i restart executor, the app is     
  69. not executable. (With or without disk cache)    
  70.     
  71. -If you press CTRL-ALT and the left button of the mouse, the system    
  72. hangs and i cant access the mouse till i boot again.    
  73.     
  74. -When i rename a HD in the hot band (by example renaming Demos to New demos)    
  75. the folder of this HD has the old name till i restart E/D.    
  76.     
  77. -When i add/remove anything to/from hot band the cursor changes to    
  78. square-dot and it does not recover their original arrow icon till    
  79. an app is started.    
  80.     
  81. -We can resize a window, but there is no resize small button on the     
  82. right bottom corner of the window!    
  83.     
  84. -We cant move a folder, it always get back to the original place when    
  85. get out from app or restart E/D. The same happens when resizing!    
  86.     
  87. -When Accessing to disks or CDs i have to press ALT +MAYS +2  and    
  88. then go to menu and Check for disks instead of Check for disk directy!    
  89.

  91. -The screen makes more jumps, it is like the screen were down and up!    
  92.     
  93.     
  94. -The up and down bottons of the folders get confused if an icon is     
  95. very near them. The incons are very near themselves too and sometimes    
  96. its difficult to read the name!    
  97.     
  98. -The time between app and browser is much longer! (Exiting Word and loading    
  99. Browser again take 20 seconds)

  101. Browser suggestions

  103. 1.- Desktop icons of disks    
  104.     The idea of hot band is great, but i think the Desktop icons of     
  105.     the HDs and inserted disk is a standard in MACS and easy to see!    
  106.     
  107. 2.-3D & Colored Icons    
  108.     The folder icon would be nicer with a 3d aspect, and the icons    
  109.     of the disks in the hot band would be nicer too with color     
  110.     and 3d aspect    
  111.     
  112. 3.- Please, I want the TRASH back    
  113.     Its easy, its simple and its the most characteristic of the     
  114.     Macintosh OS! Please, do it appear!    
  115.     
  116.     
  117. Windows and DPMI REPORT    
  118. =========================    
  119.     Using CWSDPMI under QEMM 7.5 E/D seems to work fine!    
  120.     Without using CWSDPMI under QEMM 7.5 i only can allocate 1024Mb     
  121.     
  122.     Using CWSDPMI under EMM386 E/D seems to work fine! (NOEMS)    
  123.     EXCEPT    when accesing to removable drives (Disk or CD):    
  124.     ALT+MAYS+2 + Check for disk+opening the icon on the hot band    
  125.     and voil©, U have a bug!    
  126.     
  127.     Without using CWSDPMI under EMM386 E/D seems to work fine (NOEMS)

  133.     Under Windows 3.11 if you press CTRL-BRK the entire system hangs     
  134.     (no CTRL-BRK, no ALT-CRTL-DEL, only RESET button).

  136.     Under Windows 3.11 when you CHANGE TASK and get back to E/D     
  137.     the screen is unreadable  and the mouse clears the screen showing     
  138.     us the app where down but in other video mode!    
  139.         
  140.     The hard disk access in Windows, while saving for example a WORD    
  141.     doc is very slow.

  143. APPLICATION ERRORS    
  144. ===================    
  145.     
  146.     
  147. ANY APP wich tries to print to TMP will hang if the directory    
  148.     c:\tmp does not exist!!!!!!! I think it wont be difficult to    
  149.     print to the executor directory, what ever it were, or let choose    
  150.     the directory!!!!    
  151.     
  152. ANY APP wich tries to save a file with a name longer than 32 chars get the    
  153.     error message: DISK NOT FOUND. If U rename in the browser and try    
  154.     a name longer than 32, the browser do nothing!!!!    
  155.         
  156. MAELSTROM does not run!!! In 1.99k it WORKED OK    doing the following:    
  157.     Executor -refresh 4 and then sound volume to 0 (Thanx Cliff)    
  158.     But now, when you press P , the score line is drawn and it HANGS    
  159.     (I like it very much, plz i want play  8-)   )

  162. SPEEDOMETER  3.21 hangs with the following:

  196. MS-WORD 5.1 has been tested during 4 hours and never get hanged     
  197. (Well, every ten minutes...i had to restart 8-)   ).     
  198. While exporting or checking spelling is slow, but ...Nice work guys!!!!
