This is a good idea. We won't write a bitmap editor, but we will
probably make the bitmap be a normal icon in the System file, so
people with resource editors can edit the icon to their heart's
content.

Same problems here.

I tried, but no cigars. The *.hqx file still do not appear in Compact Pro's
Open Filelist Box.

It says that both creator and file types are *BLANK*.
>If it doesn't list them as type TEXT, you should be able to change it using

Nope, it won't work. I get an error message, stating that both creator and
types must be 4 characters long. You can type absolutely any 4-letter word
(!!!) for the creator and type, and the "Get Info" will still complain that
each of them are not 4-letter long.
I use also the "Get Info" that is part of MAS (Macintosh Assembly System) and
"Filetyper", both utilities were known to work OK under previous versions of
E/DOS 1.99x. While both utilities will not complain when I try to change
the creator and the type, it appears that the changes are *NOT* recorded.
Both creator and type still remain blank. At one point, after MANY trials,
I manage to get the changes recorded for the creator, but the file type
still remain blank, no matter what 4-letter word I type! ;-)
All this has been done on .hqx files moved onto a new .hfv I made with mkvol
(fearing that the bug might corrupt the file system on other existing .hfv
"Mac" volumes).
My feeling is that the "Get Info" in your new file browser detects something
wrong, but cannot properly report it. However, on *existing* files in .hfv,
it will work fine. I could change the type and creator at will, and the
changes _are_ recorded.
> Let me know if any of that works.
While I'm not the original poster, I thought it might be useful to report it.
:-)
About that pesky fruit:

Nope! The apple should explode and scatter every bits all over the screen,
when time's up! It would even be more impressive when sound supports will
be added. <chuckles>

I think, therefore I am... virtually, at least.

What about using the Abacus while Executor is in Demo mode and
the Magician for registered copies? (where you don't need to know how long
you have :)
In addition, I just got Executor/DOS 1.99l and made it work under
Windows 95 (there appears to be a speed penalty since the screen is now
triple-buffered, but -bpp 1 fixes a lot of this.) Go looks pretty nice
(although the bottom scroll bar needs fixing in both that and TexEdit.)
I can't get TexEdit to work though, and whenever I try to use
"-size 1024x768" I get an error message saying "Sorry, maximum resolution
is 1024x768 in 8 bpp mode" or similiar. I'm using a UNIVBE.EXE which was
shipped with Wing Commander III.
1.99l looks really good so far... now I have to see if I can get
it to work under dosemu... :)
