  11. Try deleting the %filename versions of the file on the DOS side, then
  12. copy them to a .hfv and then try it again.  Alternatively, you can try
  13. using the "Get Info" menu choice from the File menu in the browser and
  14. see what it says.  If it doesn't list them as type TEXT, you should be
  15. able to change it using the browser.

  52. We can't do this before 2.0 is out.  Getting the Control Panel glue in
  53. place and working is fine, the problem is CDEVs themselves tend to do
  54. a lot of funky things that we won't support, so even if we had CDEV
  55. support that wouldn't allow you to add fonts, and After Dark would
  56. probably crash, etc.

  58. Before 2.0 ships, you'll be able to drag fonts and DAs into the
  59. hot-band and have them install that way (and you'll be able to
  60. deinstall them by dragging them out).

  67. Cotton has written the code to do that, but you'll never see it.  It's
  68. a matter of copyright violation.

  70. It's OK for us to have the Apple symbol in our bit-map system font,
  71. since we never print it ourselves, we just allow other applications to
  72. print it, and presumably those other apps are doing it with Apple's
  73. blessing, and even if they aren't, it's not our fault.

  75. When an application says use that character as a menu item, we just do
  76. what we're told, no more, no less, and the apple glyph is just treated
  77. like any other set of glyphs.

  79. However, putting in special code to recognize that character and then
  80. draw a colored Apple is not kosher.  It is doing *more* than an app
  81. requests, if the app was written before Macs had color, and it is not
  82. treating all the glyphs the same.

  84. I know it's a fine line, but we've sent black and white copies of
  85. Executor to various folks at Apple (including Michael Spindler after
  86. he took over) and never received a complaint about the B&W Apple.  If
  87. they were to request us to change it, we would.  However, I do think
  88. that drawing a color Apple is not legit and we work VERY hard to stay
  89. legit.
