  8. Older versions of executor would let the emulated program directly
  9. access the VGA frame buffer.  That doesn't work under Windows/DPMI,
  10. has various problems in larger screen modes, and doesn't work well
  11. with dynamic depth setting, so now the emulated program references an
  12. "offscreen" frame buffer which is used to update the real VGA screen
  13. periodically.  This indirection will slow down some programs (like
  14. pararena?).

  16. We may eventually add an option that gives you faster graphics access
  17. under non-DPMI; that mode will cause serious problems with a few
  18. programs (e.g. Solarian) so we can't make it the default.

  40. The Executor 1.9h demo, not the Transmorg upgrade, that is located on
  41. ftp.umn.edu under  the  /pub/ardi/ directory
  42. is corrupted. I have downloaded the file 3 times. Everytime I try using
  43. the demo, I receive an error message stating that it can not find the
  44. /System/System files. I do disable the SmartDrive Disk Caching. What is
  45. the matter with the archive? Can someone E-mail me a copy of the Executor
  46. for DOS, ver. 1.9h file that is not corrupted? Or could you please give a
  47. site that has a noncorrupted copy? Thanks. Please send it to me at:

  70. There are [plans to offer sound support.  However, it won't be done
  71. until after 2.0 ships.  The original 2.0 plans included sound support,
  72. but we also thought we'd have 2.0 out in May '94.  We're not proud
  73. that things have slipped as much as they have, and one of the ways to
  74. prevent further slippage is to cut features, and sound was one of
  75. them.
