  3. Executor 1.3a is in ftp.cs.unm.edu:pub/ardi/Executor_130a.tar.  Right  
  4. now there is no README, but here are some of the things that I know  
  5. are fixed in 1.3a:
  6.  
  7.     Uses more memory (this should help people with Excel
  8.         spreadsheet size problems)
  9.  
  10.     Floating point bug fixes in the Intel side
  11.  
  12.     Mac formatted CD ROMs now work under NS/FIP
  13.  
  14.     Mac formatted hard disks are now writable on both
  15.         platforms (non-ejectable media still requires
  16.         a bit of a dance to get Executor and not NEXTSTEP
  17.         to notice them)
  18.  
  19.     Serial port support works better on NeXT hardware, and
  20.         I *believe* it works better on Intel hardware
  21.         as well, but I haven't been able to test this yet.
  22.         Uucp locking conventions are respected and you no
  23.         longer need to make /dev/cufa writable to use it
  24.  
  25.     MacInTax for 92 works if you install it on a Mac and bring
  26.         the files over using compact pro and ethernet or
  27.         an external mac hard disk, except that when you save
  28.         your return the file gets a weird name.  I don't know
  29.         about MacInTax for '93.

  31. We have *not* fixed the ADB keyboard bug, but we have identified that  
  32. it only afflicts ADB based machines that are running NEXTSTEP 3.0.

  34. We're in the process of converting to a newer version of gnats (our  
  35. bug tracking software) that will allow mail queries on the database.   
  36. It's taken longer than we expected because of work on the Executor/PC  
  37. front (Executor/DOS is about to be renamed Executor/PC, since we have  
  38. most of it running under Windows "in the lab").  We haven't forgotten  
  39. our NeXT customers though and expect to have significantly more apps  
  40. working in the next six weeks (that benefits everyone -- NeXT, DOS  
  41. and Windows users alike).

  43. Executor/NEXTSTEP will soon go on sale for $99/license, although  
  44. people buying under the new price will be required to pick up updates  
  45. electronically, rather than have ARDI mailing them out.  People who  
  46. previously purchased Executor will continue to receive their updates  
  47. (experimental versions don't count) via US mail.

  49. I think we'll make a major (good news) announcement in February, but  
  50. I've been wrong before.

  69. Folks at ARDI,
  70.  
  71. What is the probability of getting a release of Executor that supports
  72. MacInTax 93 before tax time?  Are there others out there that see Executor
  73. as the only option for tax/personal finance on NeXT hardware?  I realize
  74. that support of software of this type  may be low on the list of priorities at
  75. ARDI, but is the sole reason I bought Executor.  I'm in no way
  76. dissatisfied with Exector or the support that I have received in fact I am
  77. very happy.  I'd just like to be able to plan my tax prep accordingly.
