- Dear Folks,
-
- I haven't been able to get all the stuff done for NeXTWORLD
- Expo that I was hoping (MSW 5.0 still has many irritating bugs).
- Could anyone with Opener try using it to automatically open
- executables and documents? I was going to grab it from the archives
- and see if I could configure it to work and then show it at NeXTWORLD
- Expo. I'm not sure I'll have the time.
-
- Executor-MSW can be run from the command line as long as it's
- pathname is fully qualified (i.e. starts with "/"). Similarly if the
- next argument is an executable app then that application will be run
- at start up, similarly if the arguments after that are the proper
- type documents for the executable then they'll be opened on startup.
- I think this should be enough for some resourceful soul to get things
- going.
-
- Now that I've speculated that it should work, let's all cross
- our fingers. I know it will make a few people a little more happy.

- I can't tell you how pleased I am to read this... I hadn't gotten
- around to actually attempting to run a Mac app from the command line,
- but I had hoped it was possible. A couple of questions:
-
- 1) Can you give us a list of the available command line options
- for Executor-MSW, and a rough idea of what each one does? All
- I was able to find in the User's Manual were "-dogmeat" and
- "-noclock". I'd be interested in any others (especially any
- relating to screen geometry).
-
- 2) When you execute Executor-MSW from the command line, do you
- specify the path to the "executable app" as a "NeXT-based"
- path or a "Mac-based" path? In other words, is it
- /LocalApps/Executor-MSW.app/Executor-MSW /LocalApps/Executor-MSW.app/ExecutorVolume/Word/"Microsoft Word"
- or is it
- /LocalApps/Executor-MSW.app/Executor-MSW "ExecutorVolume:Word:Microsoft Word" ?
-
- [sorry about the long lines]
