UserManager is a general-purpose utility for adding, modifying, and deleting user account records. It also provides a method to create and destroy the user's home d
tory and system mail box.\
The default UserManager New User window (the Short view) provides a simple interface for adding a user. You only need to supply the new user's real name, the account name, and the password. You may also specify a home directory server, if one is available, and set the user's default starting language. The other values necessary for the new account are selected automatically. To add the new user, click Save under the User menu. You will be asked to verify the new user's password, and then asked to verify the complete account. Click OK and the user will be added.\
If you want to add a new user, but you want to specify non-default values for the other values, click the Long Form button. In this view, you can specify more completely what the various values for a new user's account should be. Again, to add the user, click Save under the User menu, after which you will verify the password and the account.\
When creating a new user, you may specify the password as "*" (just one asterisk). This will create the account, but disable anyone from logging in on that account. You might do this to create a pseudo-user to be the owner of some files, for instance.\
If you want to delete a user, you must first open the user. Once you have the user record open, you can choose Delete... from the User menu. You will see a panel asking whether to remove the user's account completely, or to just disable the account. You also can control whether the user's home directory is deleted. After setting these options, click OK to delete the user.\
To modify an existing user account, simply open the user and change the values, then select Save... under the User Menu. You may edit any of the entries in the user's account except for the default language. When you have finished, click the Modify button. You will be asked to confirm the new information (and separately asked to confirm the password if you have changed it). Click OK, and the modifications to the user's account will be made.\
