  7. Q.  My computer hangs when I type THEDISC <enter>?
  8.  
  9. A.  We use a third party program to handle the large number of non
  10.     VESA supporting video cards on the market.  This program titled
  11.     UniVBE from SciTech Software fails to run on some machines and
  12.     therefore sometimes hangs.
  13.     To avoid calling this program start The Disc by typing the
  14.     following:
  15.             THEDISC -VESAOFF    <enter>
  16.

  19. Q.  When starting The Disc, a message appears saying:
  20.     "FAILED to load VESA driver!"
  21.     
  22. A.  Check that you have at least 12 Kilobytes (12288 bytes) free on
  23.     your C-Drive.
  24.     or/
  25.     Your video card may not have 640x480x256 capabilities.
  26.  
  27.     * To check the kind of video card you have, try the UVCONFIG.EXE
  28.       program in the root directory of the CD.

  32. Q.  The screen is broken up and the background images flicker?
  33.  
  34. A.  Your video card may have less than 1 Megabyte of memory on it.
  35.  
  36.     * To check the kind of video card you have, try the UVCONFIG.EXE
  37.       program in the root directory of the CD.

  41. Q.  The movie sequences seem to run slowly or erratically?
  42.  
  43. A.  Your processor may be a low-speed 386.
  44.     or/
  45.     Try removing any unnecessary TSRs from memory.

  49. Q.  In The Disc, I cannot move the cursor with my mouse?
  50.  
  51. A.  Check your mouse is plugged in.
  52.     or/
  53.     Check that you have a mouse driver installed.
  54.     
  55.     * The keyboard can emulate the mouse by using the cursor keys,
  56.       and SPACEBAR or <ENTER> for the mouse-button.

  60. Q.  The sound volume is quiet?
  61.  
  62. A.  Check the volume of your soundcard.
  63.     This could either be a dial at the back of the computer or a
  64.     program supplied with your soundcard.

  68. Q.  My Gravis Ultrasound does not seem to be supported?
  69.  
  70. A.  Using the SBOS program will allow The Disc to run.  We will hopefully
  71.     have full native Gravis support in Issue #3.
