- 5. MAIN MENU
- From this screen is possible select between the different options of the
- program:
- 1) Players.
- Through this option you could select the number of players that will
- participate in the game with a maximum number of two.
-
- This participation is not simultaneous, for that which in order to
- distinguish the ships of player one and two, their color has been changed.
- The controls will be the same for both, because of that upon selecting you
- should think in the other player's likings.
-
- From this choice you begin to play when you press the shoot button.
- You will note some triangles located it straight to the choice.
- With the controls <right cursor> and <left cursor>, it's possible to select
- from one to three triangles, that indicates the speed of the game.
- In fast computers (486/100 Mhz or Pentium), it isn't recomenmended to set
- more than two triangles.
-
- The game level varies between three different possibilities (Easy, Normal and
- Hard). For the most unskilled players or that plays their first game, we
- counsel the level Easy, till they becomes with the controls of game.
- When we desire to leave the program, this choice allows to return to the
- operating system upon concluding our session with Delvion Star Interceptor.
- You should keep in mind that the function of the main menu consists on
- selecting the control level of the game, for that which before beginning each
- game is suitable to make sure well that you has chosen the desired
- configuration. It's possible also to go out while you are playing through the
- use of the <ESC> key, which returns to this main menu.
-
- 6. KEYS SUMMARY
- The default keys defined in the game are:
-
- <Cursor Up >: Allows the ship to move up.
- <Cursor Down >: Our ship moves down.
- <Cursor right>: The ship advances forward.
- <Cursor Left >: It moves back.
- <Space>: Selects an object from the bar.
- <Alt Gr >: Shot.
-
- All the keys of the game could be redefined by the user from the program
- SETUP.EXE, executable from the MSDOS command line, that also facilitates the
- use of a gamepad.
-
- 7. WEAPONRY
- In the beginning, our ship relies on a scarce implicit armament, which it
- enhances according to our advance by the different phases. To the hour of
- selecting the weapons with we will have in each phase, there are two menus
- that should be kept in mind: the first before each phase, while the second
- consists in a selection bar during the game. Before each phase it is
- possible to choose the weapons that we could use during the game, keeping in
- mind that we could reselect them again after each phase. These weapons
- correspond to four different classes, of that which in last instance we could
- select only one of every class:
-
- Missile.
- We dispose of two classes of missiles. The first will always go to earth,
- but the seconds could discharge also up, succeeding in terminating with the
- enemy that is located in the roof of the different phases.
-
- Beam.
- Our spacial gun could be upgraded by means of the selection of this
- beam. In the beginning it will allow us to discharge forward and behind in
- order to finish with the enemy that is located in these places, but in more
- advanced phases we could select the rotational beam that undertakes 360
- grades with their shooting, and allows to finish with enemy located in any
- place of the screen.
-
- Laser.
- The lasers allow to go through the enemy by means of its elevated energy
- capacity, destroying them more rapidly than with the Beam. Their capacity
- could be elevated also, and if we wait some phases, they will be converted in
- highly powered waves of energy.
-
- Power.
- This choice goes together with the special powers of our ship. Three
- possibilities exist (not feasible of using from the commencement) that
- consists on adding escort ships to our spacial aircraft. The foremost option
- allows to add diagonal shootings, while the second, extra lasers.
-
- After this selection we access to the game, where in the upper zone of the
- screen the following selection bar appears. With it we could choose the
- weapons previously selected, if we picks up the objects that appears in
- screen upon destroying certain enemies. These objects (that will be explained
- next ), advance the selection cursor over the bar, and when we want to use
- some of them, we should pulse the button previously configured.
-
- Concerning the previous menu, two new options appear in the bar:
-
- Speed.
- Every time we selects this option, the speed of our ship will be increased a
- little, until it reaches the top that will be marked for the selections we
- have done.
-
- Shield.
- We rely on an important advantage concerning our enemy, and it is the
- possibility of relying on an energy shield that allows us to stop certain
- shootings and crashes with small ships. Every time we select this option,
- the energy of our ship will increase.
-
- 8. USEFUL OBJECTS
- During the course of the game, it appears in screen diverse objects upon
- destroying to certain enemies.
- These objects could be picked up upon passing through above them with our
- ship, being very important for the development of the game. They exists four
- kinds of objects:
-
- Red. They magnify in one the counter of the upper armament selection.
- bar. Blue. Decreases in one the counter of the upper bar.
- Blue spot. Increases in thousand points our punctuation.
- Yellow. Grants an extra life to our battered counter of ships.
-
- 9. PHASES
- Delvion Star Interceptor shareware is composed of three phases (ten in full
- version) of very different styles as for graphic and enemy, corresponding
- each one with some of the places from the empire Nexus. Since it is
- comprehensible, the difficulty increases as you advance in them. Serve these
- comments like small aid in each one of them.
-
- Phase 1. Sideral Space.
- Just left from our nurse ship, we will meet with a field of asteroids that we
- should avoid. Could be destroyed, but the biggest will cost us a great
- number of shootings. After entering in the zone of the enemy base in
- construction, we will be confronted with the protection satellite, whose
- shootings will attempt to traverse the shield of our ship.
-
-
- 10. NOTES And ADVICES
- Here you have some advices that will help you to fully enjoy Delvion Star
- Interceptor:
-
- - The game relies on three different levels of difficulty. If this is going
- to be your first game, play in the easier level, in order to become with the
- controls. Once you've mastered the program, select a higher level of
- difficulty.
-
- - To kill the final phase bosses it is simple, if you study their movements
- and shootings before. This will be difficult for us and will require to lost
- some lives, but allows in the following games, to kill them rapidly.
-
- - It is suitable to keep in the center of the screen in order to don't suffer
- crashes with things or enemy that appears suddenly in some of the edges of
- the screen.
-
- - At the multidirectional scroll screens it's recommended to avoid the walls,
- since an abrupt change of movement could provoke the destruction of our ship.
-
- - Although we should catch the objects that appears in screen in order to
- increase the capacity of fire, upon demolishing some enemy near the walls,
- these objects will remain too near them, so catch them couldn't be
- possible without an excessive risk for the ship. It is convenient to wait
- for a better opportunity.
-
- - In fast computers, like the 486/100 Mhz or Pentium, it is more than
- recomendable don't pass of speed two, since more speed would implicate that
- the enemy appear too quickly.
-
- We hope that Delvion Star Interceptor is of your more complete pleases, and
- continues holding your confidence in the DDM products.
