  8. echo.     This program is designed to be totally user friendly, providing for
  9. echo.a novice to pop it up and use it without any prior computer experience.
  10. echo.     Though it was tested under many different system configurations and
  11. echo.environments, it's recommended that if you have any problems
  12. echo.what-so-ever in getting it running the first time, start your system
  13. echo.from the normal DOS prompt without a lot of utilities and TSR's loaded.
  14. echo.     The program was tested on the SONY CDROM system and a couple other
  15. echo.generic ones.  It worked fine.

  17. echo.Getting started:

  22. echo.     Just type "NIGHT" at your DOS prompt ">".  The first time it will
  23. echo.ask you some basic questions about your system, create a work area, and
  24. echo.a simple batch file to complete installation.  After running it the
  25. echo.first time and typing "install" you shouldn't have any thing left but to
  26. echo.use it by noticing the commands on the screens.

  30. echo.Commands Are:
  31. echo.
  32. echo.     The commands available from the first screen (The Directory
  33. echo.     Catagories) are "#, S, U, E, D, and Q."
  34. echo.
  35. echo.     (#) is number for accepting the number of the directory area you
  36. echo.         wish to list.
  37. echo.     (S) is an option to do a search of all the directories for a
  38. echo.         specific file or file description. You can also do a ALT
  39. echo.         S to do a another search for another key word inside your
  40. echo.         first search.
  41. echo      (U) is the a users list directory built for all the files you
  42. echo.         searched for it will be there till you do another S from
  43. echo.         the main menu.          
  44. echo.     (E) is if you want to change your config of the cdrom
  45. echo.     (D) to drop to dos from our program to format floppy disk or
  46. echo.         or do other dos commands
  47. echo.     (Q) is to quit the program completly
  48. echo.     (F1) is a built in help file to help you with the commands on 
  49. echo.            this cdrom and may be pressed anyway inside the NIGHT
  50. echo.

  53. echo.     After entering a directory area you have other options.

  55. echo.   Press CR to select the highlight file (or tagged files for handling
  56. echo. 
  57. echo.           From the Area of CR (carrage return):

  59. echo.      (X) Extract file(s) from the CDROM.
  60. echo.      (Q) Quit back to the file dir
  61. echo.      (V) View contents of packed (ZIP) files plus read docs
  62. echo.      (D) Shell to DOS
  63. echo.      (C) Copy files from the CDROM
  64. echo.      (G) Go back to area were you have unziped programs.
  65. echo.      (+) Key will tag all files
  66. echo.      (-) Key will untag all files
  67. echo.(Spacebar) Tag one file at a time
  68. echo.

  70. echo.     The V will allow you to read doc for that file you are viewing if
  71. echo.     there are doc files in the zip. The X will extact the file to the 
  72. echo.     work area were you may read docs execute the program and then delate
  73. echo.     them so you are ready to work on another file.

  83. echo.    very little documention.  Running the program at default should provide

  92. echo.There is a Special Directory on the CD-ROM for shareware authors that have
  93. echo.allowed their programs to be added to this cd and they are in dir 2 and
  94. echo.are located on the CD-ROM in directory 002A.

  96. echo.Shareware programs are not FREE programs or public domain programs.  They
  97. echo.are copyrighted programs that the authors have released to the public to
  98. echo.allow them to look at the program and to try it out.  You should then
  99. echo.register the program with the author if you like and want to continue to
  100. echo.use the program.

  150. echo.  the programs may not be albe to be used if you do not have what the
  151. echo.  program is looking for for example if you pick a file that is only
  152. echo.  for VGA and you use a Mono monitor then that program will not work
  153. echo.  on your computer, Plus on a lot of programs there is once the program
  154. echo.  is run there is no way to exit out of it and you will have to reboot
  155. echo.  your computer so will allow you to guite but all do not this is the
  156. echo.  programs fault not the NIGHT because you have left the night and 
  157. echo.  entered into the other Authors program......

  174. echo.   The ENTER key can now be used to execute a file directly from
  175. echo.   the CDROM.  Any output from this execution will be placed in
  176. echo.   the UNZIP directory unless the program being run specifically
  177. echo.   names other file paths.

  180. echo.   The X command has been added to this window to allow any ZIP
  181. echo.   files contained in the directory to be extracted.  Any output
  182. echo.   from this extraction process will be placed in the UNZIP
