  11. I. Description
  12.     A "blip" by defintion is a spot of light on a radar screen.  A
  13. "Bible Blip" is by my definition a spot of "light" (from the Bible) on
  14. a computer screen.
  15.     Bible Blips: The Screen Saver for Windows is a Microsoft Windows
  16. compatible screen saver.  You place its files into your  C:\WINDOWS
  17. directory and select it from DESKTOP setting of your Control Panel.
  18.     When the screen saver is activated it will display one of 356
  19. random Bible verses.  The verse will float around the screen while
  20. colorful swirls are drawn behind it. Periodically the verse and the
  21. color of the verse will change.

  23. II. Installation & Use Instructions:
  24.     - Run the SETUP.EXE program
  25.     - It will place the screen saver file (BBLIPSAV.SCR) and the file
  26.       of Bible verses (BBLIPS.VRS) into your C:\WINDOWS directory,
  27.       and it will place this README.TXT file into the directory
  28.       specified by the setup program.
  29.     - To use it, open your CONTROL PANEL (usually in your MAIN window),
  30.       select DESKTOP, and select BIBLE BLIPS from the list of screen
  31.       savers available.
  32.     NOTE: You must have the Visual Basic runtime module VBRUN300.DLL
  33.         in your Windows or Windows\System directory!

  39. IV. Development Environment:
  40.     This program was written in Visual Basic V3.0 Standard Edition
  41.     on my home PC which is a 486SX-25 with 8 meg RAM.  I'm running
  42.     Windows 3.1 on top of MS-DOS 6.2 using the standard Microsoft
  43.     memory manager(HIMEM/EMM386), disk cache (Smartdrv). It was also
  44.     tested on a 386-33 and a 486-66.

  50.     - v1.0 released 12/30/94
  51.     - v1.1 released 02/28/95 Forced screen saver to always be on top.
  52.     - v2.0 released 04/17/95 Added setup screen with options for 
  53.       adjusting speed of verse, frequency of verse changes, and
  54.       password protection.
  55.     - v2.1 released 04/21/95 Added error message for incorrect
  56.       password and fixed stack space problem.
  57.     - v2.2 released 11/17/95 Added verse display options: Hot
  58.       colored book, no book,  and user defined colored rectangle.
  59.       Changed colored swirls so the line width varies.
  60.     - v2.3 released 2/6/96 Added 1 as a speed option for super
  61.       fast computers.  Reversed order of scroll bars in setup.

  63. VII. Verses
  64.     - The Bible verses used by Bible Blips are taken from the King
  65.       James version of the Bible.  Why?  For copyright reasons.
  66.       The King James Version is public domain.  You can easily create
  67.       your own file of verses from any translation you want for your
  68.       own use.
  69.     - Currently there are 356 verses which will randomly come up.
  70.     - I have specifically placed the verses in a separate file so
  71.       that, if you want Bible Blips to use verses that you select,
  72.       you can easily add them.  The format of the verses file (which
  73.       is called "BBLIPS.VRS") is quite simple.  It is a simple text
  74.       file with one verse per line!  Bible Blips will handle thousands
  75.       of verses (but the program will slow down with a larger verse
  76.       file).  The maximum limit for a verse in the text file
  77.       is 252 characters.  But that many positions will never fit in
  78.       the Bible Blips window.  You'll just have to use trial and error.

  81.     There is no registration required.  It is free!

  83. IX. Standard Copyright and Disclaimer Stuff:
  84.     - You may copy and give this program to anyone you wish as long
  85.       as the 2 main files and this README.TXT file are kept intact.
  86.     - This program is free of charge but the author still maintains
  87.       all copyrights.
  88.     - This program is provided to you on an "as is" basis.  The author
  89.       assumes no responsibility for any losses or damages incurred
  90.       from the use of this program (but what could go wrong?!?).

  92.       trademarks of Microsoft Corporation.

  94. X. About the Author:
  95.     I am a 18 year mainframe computer programmer (which means very
  96.     little when you're talking about programming on a PC).  I
  97.     currently have 2 other FREE Bible applications available through
  98.     several on-line services. One is called "Bible Baseball for Windows".
  99.     And the other is "Bible Blips for Windows".
  100.     My wife wanted me to learn Visual Basic so that I could write
  101.     some applications for her fifth grade classroom's PC.  She
  102.     teaches at Penn Christian Academy in Norristown, PA.  If you have
  103.     any comments, corrections, bug notifications (heaven forbid),
  104.     or ideas for other useful programs, please just let me know.
