  11. System Requirements:

  13. This program requires an IBM PC or compatible with at least VGA.
  14.  
  15. In general, faster systems will run the program more efficiently.

  18. Sound Blaster Notes:
  19. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  20. This program contains routines to play digital sound on a Sound
  21. Blaster or compatible card.  However, this program does NOT
  22. contain autodetection routines.  This program relies upon the
  23. BLASTER= variable being set appropriately in your environment.
  24. If the BLASTER= variable is set incorrectly, the program may
  25. crash.  If the BLASTER= variable is absent the program will
  26. NOT attempt to use Sound Blaster sound.
  27.  
  28. Additionally you will need to have free EMS memory to hear
  29. all digital sounds (they're too big to fit in conventional
  30. memory).  The sounds deemed "most important" to game play
  31. will be loaded into conventional memory on a first-come, first-
  32. served basis.  To hear ALL sounds you will need enough EMS
  33. free to fit the file ROFSFX.DBO.  Check free EMS with the
  34. MEM command under DOS.

  36. If your SoundBlaster is very old then the BLASTER= variable
  37. may not be set.  In this case you could try one of the following:
  38.  
  39.     set BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T1
  40.     set BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T1

  45. Cursor keys:  jumps your frog around in 4 directions
  46. Alternate keys:  A,Z for up/down, K,L for left/right

  52. [J] - toggle joystick on/off

  61. Game Notes:
  62. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  63. You are in control of a little frog.  The object of the game
  64. is to safely jump your little frog from the bottom of the
  65. screen across the lanes of traffic, across the treacherous
  66. water rapids, and into one of the "safe harbors" near the
  67. top of the screen.  Various other hazards may appear from time
  68. to time, including snakes and crocodiles.

  70. Various "goodies" also appear.  You might encounter a female
  71. frog bouncing around on one of the logs out in the river.
  72. Rescue her and receive additional bonus points.

  75. Classic vs Extended Mode
  76. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  77. Revenge of Froggie is actually two games in one.  You may
  78. choose from the main menu to either play the Classic or
  79. the Extended version of the game.  Each version keeps a
  80. separate score chart for the high scores.
  81.  
  82. The following features distinguish play in extended mode:
  83.  
  84.     - difficulty changes at a slightly different pace
  85.     - your frog starts randomly at the bottom (not always centered)
  86.  
  87. Both play modes are provided in the hopes that you will
  88. enjoy the game enough to send in your registration fee.  :)

  91. Scoring:
  92. ~~~~~~~~
  93. Advance forward one lane (traffic or river):             10
  94. Safely "docking" your frog in a goal:                    50
  95. Delivering the lady frog safely:                        200
  96. Catching a fly in the goal:                             200
  97. Completing all five (or seven) goals (one level)       1000
  98. Bonus seconds left at the end of the level (each)        10
  99.  
  100. All points are multiplied by the points multiplier, which is
  101. displayed at the start of each level.

  103. You earn an extra frog (life) every 10,000 points.
  104.  
  105. Note that scoring changed on January 6, 1996 to be like the
  106. arcade version.  If you have a score chart created BEFORE
  107. January 6, 1996 the old scores are no longer compatible and
  108. will not show in the new game.
