- CLASSIC GAMES DATABASE: A PROPOSAL

- There is a need for a database of Scrabble (tm) games, both tournament games
- and those played just "for fun". The criterion is that the games be
- instructive and / or interesting.
-
- Archives of classic chess games are available both in print and on line and
- are valuable resources for learning and analysis. The Scrabble (tm) community
- could benefit from a counterpart to this.
-
- I would suggest a standard notation for game turns, something similar to the
- following:
- Jones:8:d7:v:WORKING:GIKNORW:63:289
- This would be interpreted as player Jones at turn 8 constructed the word
- WORKING beginning at square d7, vertically, from rack GIKNORW, for a turn
- score of 63 and a cumulative score of 289.
-
- A classic game archive would be in the Public Domain for unrestricted use by
- anyone. There would be no monetary gain to those submitting their games, only
- the possibility of "immortality" [the famous Anderssen-Kieseritzky chess game
- is still being analyzed 130 years later].
