  4. Morello WordPuzzler is *THE* package for creating grid word search puzzles.
  5.  
  6. It takes just a few minutes to type in your puzzle words and print out a
  7. brand new puzzle word search every time. For your own amusement, to keep
  8. your kids occupied, or to perk up your office newsletter, it is *EASY* with
  9. Morello WordPuzzler.

  15. Version 1.1a features several improvements over the previous V1.1:
  16.  
  17. - New wizards and tips are on hand to make it even easier to create puzzles.
  18. - You can control the puzzle difficulty.
  19. - You can add a title to your printed puzzle.
  20. - Now you can open several puzzles at the same time (not all that useful,
  21.   but it is in preparation for things to come...)
  22. - We have also spruced up the interface to make it simpler and more
  23.   enjoyable to use!

  26. Variants

  29. Morello WordPuzzler is available in 3 variants:
  30.  
  31. Shareware - This may be used free of charge for a 30 days, after which it 
  32.             must be registered. The Shareware version only allows a maximum
  33.             of 5 words in a puzzle.
  34. Standard  - This has all the features of the Shareware version, but removes
  35.             the 5 word restriction.
  36. Pro       - Allows you to export your puzzle in vector format so that it can
  37.             be imported into most popular word processors or page layout
  38.             packages.

  40. The Standard edition is 10 UK Pounds (15 US Dollars). Pro is 25 UK Pounds
  41. (35 US Dollars). Send Cheque, PO or Money Order to the address at the end
  42. of this file.

  45. Getting started - the Puzzle Wizard
  46. -----------------------------------

  48. To create a new puzzle, select File|New on the menu. This starts up the
  49. Puzzle Wizard.
  50.  
  51. Fill in the details the Wizard asks for - but don't worry, you can always
  52. change your mind later! The wizard presents you with 4 forms in order:
  53.  
  54. Page Layout - Choose the title of your puzzle. Set the page margins to 
  55.               position your puzzle on the printed page 
  56. Size        - Choose the size of the puzzle grid (ie how many letters there
  57.               will be across and down the puzzle).
  58. Fonts       - Choose the font for the title and the puzzle. The fonts chosen
  59.               will affect the printed size of the puzzle, because it will be
  60.               scaled to match the font sizes.   
  61. Difficulty  - You can choose to limit the number of reverse, diagonal or
  62.               vertically placed words in your puzzle, to make ir more or
  63.               less difficult.

  65. At first, a grid will be displayed with no words hidden in it.
  66.  
  67. To add words, simply click Edit|Word List, and add the words you want
  68. in the dialog box. When you hit OK, the new puzzle will be automatically
  69. generated.

  71. The words are inserted into the puzzle at random, and are shown in red on
  72. the screen. If you don't like the way they are laid out, choose Redo, and 
  73. the words will be randomized again.

  75. If you use long words, or if you have a lot of words, they might not fit
  76. into the grid. You can try Redo a few times, you might be lucky, but you
  77. will probably need to make the puzzle bigger, see below.

  80. Saving your work
  81. ----------------

  83. You can save your puzzle at any time, using File|Save. Then you can open the
  84. puzzle later, to modify it or print it out again.

  87. Printing the puzzle
  88. -------------------

  90. Before printing the puzzle, you should hide the answers!
  91.  
  92. Click View|Show Answers (this toggle on or off), so that the words are no
  93. longer displayed in red, then hit File|Print to print the puzzle.

  95. If you wish (if you have a colour printer) you can print the answers by
  96. leaving Show Answers ON when you print.

  99. Changing the Puzzle
  100. -------------------

  102. Choose Edit|Properties. This will display a property dialog box with tabs
  103. for Page Layout, Size, Fonts and Difficulty - exactly the same as the Wizard
  104. forms. You can alter any of your original choices at any time using this
  105. menu option.
