  18. A: If you're looking for anything related to this program, you can find it at, or through the VCU
  19. distribution site. The primary site is located at http://www.wilter.com/wf/vcu/. If you are
  20. looking for something else, try a search engine.

  25. Q: Why isn't ____ implimented?
  26. A: ____ isn't implimented because I didn't think it would be usefull, or it wasn't possible for
  27. me to impliment it. Features that were requested such as "complete" wordlists (everything from a
  28. to ZZZZZZ, and such) weren't implimented because they're useless (you really want to crack using
  29. a wordlist of a few gigs?). Another highly requested feature, a front-end for Cracker Jack, was
  30. left out because, to my knowledge, Cracker Jack cannot be run under windows. Many other DOS based
  31. password crackers weren't implimented because I don't see a need, I've got the best cracker and
  32. some of the other most popular ones represented.

  38. A: If it's a feature of VCU, read the docs (either vcu.txt, or the HTML documentation), if it's
  39. a feature of one of the password crackers I've created front-ends for, read the documentation for
  40. that program.

  46. A: Tell me about it. Send e-mail to epicurus@wilter.com with "VCU -- BUG" in the subject line,
  47. I'll appreciate it, and fix it as soon as I can.

  52. Q: Why did you write VCU?
  53. A: It started out as a way for me to pick up Delphi (the programming language/environment that I
  54. wrote it in). After I started getting lots of ideas for it, it just kept growing. VCU is just a
  55. suite of utilities that I wrote to make it far easier to create and manage wordlists, and to run
  56. password crackers from a nice interface. I'm also hoping that the release of VCU will help get
  57. system administrators that don't use shadowed password files to start using them. If all passwd
  58. files were shadowed, there wouldn't be much need for password crackers, and the world would be a
  59. better place.
