  14. This file isn't "How to use a diverter",
  15. it's more like "how to get lots of them
  16. as fast as I can to make confrences and
  17. trace-free calls without getting nailed"
  18. I will discuss several ways to do this..
  19. I wrote the text file in 40 column even
  20. though I have 80 so everyone vith 40 col
  21. can read it easily. And so when/if you
  22. print it out you can waste half the
  23. paper!!

  26. HOW TO FIND THEM: METHOD ONE-
  27. needed-
  28.    The Yellow Pages
  29.    touch tone phone
  30.    Your areas ANI phone number
  31.  
  32. Okay. Open the phone book to PLUMBERS.
  33. Find one that says 24 hour service 
  34. or something like that. Dial the #.
  35. Let it ring. You should hear a click,
  36. then a ring. that is the call diverting.
  37. the other ring often sounds different.
  38. get the other people to hang up. now, 
  39. THIS IS VITAL: DONT ANNOY THEM! They're
  40. not dumb and will catch on if you do.
  41. ask in  foreigner type voice "Is Abdul
  42. there?" or something like that. they
  43. will hang up. Wait for a dial tone,
  44. then dial the ANI number. Thats the
  45. thing when you dial it it reads back
  46. your number. if it says your number,
  47. then its not  a diverter. Try another
  48. plumber and take your business elsewhere
  49. but if  it reads a different number, its
  50. a diverter.. It wont be the number you
  51. dialed though. Write down the number you
  52. dialed somewhere. Now you have a diverter.
  53. Other people to do this to are Doctors,
  54. Electricians, or anyone with 24-hour
  55. service in their ad.

  57. Problems with diverters:

  59. Some diverters have security features
  60. in them to keep out the big bad phreaks.
  61. For example, Radio Shack  sells
  62. diverters. They hang up on you(and
  63. disconnect the call) either after five
  64. or ten minutes, depending on what the
  65. owner sets a switch to. I hate those.
  66. Also, some diverters click when used.
  67. every minute or so. If you dial
  68. ALLIANCE and it wont go though, then
  69. dial 10288 first then alliance.
  70. this will rout the call through AT&T.

  72. Why Diverters Are Superior:
  73. ---------------------------------------
  74. Often if you use a diverter thats local
  75. to you you get a great connection. Why?
  76. Your dialing off of its dial tone as if
  77. it was your own, but not getting billed
  78. of course. Diverters dont trace or have
  79. ANI like those nasty 950 companies. 
  80. They reach any number that you can..
  81. If you call a number that traces with
  82. a diverter(Gvmt/TRW/etc) it gets the
  83. DIverter number and not yours. You
  84. are safe, the Plumber/Doctor has some
  85. serious explaining to do to the feds.
  86. As well as a large phone bill that
  87. he dosent know where it all came from.

  90. HOW TO FIND THEM-------------------
  91. you need-
  92.      A PAYPHONE(unless your in
  93.                 Crossbar, but still
  94.                 WATCH OUT!)
  95.      The number to the Credit Operator

  97. I reccomend using a payphone for this
  98. one since you are screwing with your
  99. local telco who dosent like you much.

  101. Ok, dial the credit op. Ask for the
  102. AT&T CREDIT OPERATOR. They should put
  103. on some lame recording. Wait till its
  104. over then wait for a dial tone. Hit
  105. 9+1+Area Code and Phone Number.
  106. This is convenient if you have no
  107. quarter. This is how it works:
  108. 1) you call credit op and ask
  109.    for at&t credit op
  110. 2) Op hits button to DIAL number
  111.    with recording. Op lets go
  112.    of button to talk to you(IE: goes
  113.    on to next person with ques.)
  114. 3) Recording Ends. It hangs up but
  115.    you dont. you get a dial tone:
  116.    THE CREDIT OPS DIAL TONE!!!
  117. 4) Dial 9+1+Area Code and Number.

  119. I reccomend hitting 9+ANI the first
  120. time you do this to make sure it works
  121. in your area. I have only tried it in
  122. NY Metro Area.(IE, NYC and Long Island)
  123. if ANI isnt a 3-digit number(NY Metro
  124. Area ANI: 958) but rather is a 7-digit
  125. phone number, hit 1+9+Area COde plus
  126. ANI. Depending onthe area if you dial 
  127. a number in your area code you may not
  128. need to use it. Experiment! Whats rad
  129. is that if you dial the number it
  130. gives with ANI it rings. You get
  131. connected to someone dialing the`
  132. Credit Op! They think you are He/She!
  133. Then all sorts of fun and games can 
  134. happen!!!

  136. How To Find Diverters: Method Three-
  137. ---------------------------------------
  138. Need-
  139.      A Phone
  140.      Yellow Pages
  141.      good "social engineering" skills.
  142.      (In other words, be a good BS
  143.       atrist...)
  144.      Your Local ANI number
  145.  
  146. Look up "Telephone ANswering Service"
  147. in the phone book. make up a name.
  148. Tell them you are thinking about
  149. buying a call diverter. BS them
  150. that you want "referenced of
  151. people/companies that use your
  152. services call diverters" and get
  153. phone numbers. Those numbers could be
  154. and often are diverters!!! If not,
  155. look up the company up in the phone
  156. book. that should be the diverter.
  157. be sure to check it with ANI..
  158. Somethins interestion I have found is
  159. that the numbers to some TAS(Telephone
  160. Answering Service) companies are
  161. diverters.Then youre double Lucky!
  162. Some companies refuse to give out
  163. info for "security reasons". Offer
  164. to give them your phone number if
  165. they will call you back immediately
  166. (you have to leave soon, say that)
  167. and give them the ring side of a loop.

  171. As you can see, diverters have many
  172. uses. Find them, use them, trade them,
  173. abuse them, post them. DIverters
  174. often never last longer than 2 and a
  175. half months since thats as long as it
  176. usually takes for them to figure out
  177. what is happening, and get a secure
  178. diverter.
