- The name Monoclonius means "One
- Conqueror." It was so named for the
- single horn on its nose. Monoclonius
- was a North American herbivore that
- grew up to a length of eighteen
- feet.
- Monoclonius is a Ceratopsian and
- related to the Triceratops and
- Styracosaurus. Like all Ceratopsians
- the Monoclonius had a sort of beak
- at the top of its snout.
- The Ceratopsians were the last
- major group of dinosaurs to appear.
- Ceratopsians descended from the
- Protoceratops of which many fossils
- have been found in the Gobi desert.
- A probable ancestor of all the
- Ceratopsians is Psittacosaurus, a
- four-foot long herbivore from East
- Asia with a bill like a parrot.^
