- EDITING A LIST
-
- This option allows you to add, change or delete records in
- the active list. The first four field descriptive titles
- are user definable (using the SET LIST PARAMETERS option).
- An individual record in the list is laid out as follows
- (default descriptions):
-
- A. NAME (Last,First): For individuals, type the last name
- followed by a comma and then the last name. For companies,
- type the name exactly as you want it to appear on labels.
- B. COMPANY NAME/ADDR:
- C. ADDRESS:
- D. ADDRESS:
- E. CITY:
- F. STATE:
- G. ZIPCODE:
- H. PHONE NUMBER:
- I. REVERSE NAMES (First Last) WHEN PRINTING (Y/N): This
- option allows the names of individuals to be printed in
- proper order and omits the comma. A setting of "N" will
- cause the name to be printed exactly as entered, including
- commas. The default setting for the list as a whole is made
- in the SET LIST PARAMETERS option.
- J. SUBLIST CODES: You can have discrete lists within a
- named list by using your own codes. Up to 30 characters are
- available for sublist codes. For example, a list of computer
- users could be divided into sublists according to the kind of
- equipment used with the entry "APPLE IBM MAC ATARI". This
- would put the record on four different sublists. Each
- sublist code must be separated from other codes by a
- character not used in any code (such as a space or comma).
-
- Searching for records to change or delete is done by
- physical record number or by primary sort field. In
- searching by record number, precede the record number with
- a number sign "#". A search by primary sort field will
- evaluate only the characters entered. For example, in
- searching by name, an entry of "Wil" would find Wilbur,
- Wilcox, Williams, Wilson, etc. Entering "Wil?" is
- equivalent to entering "Wil".
-
- Two special search modes are also available
- 1. An entry in the form "?son" will find a record with
- the sort field ending with "son".
- 2. An entry in the form "?son?" will find a record with
- "son" anywhere in the sort field.
