- AUTOMATIC GAME STARTUP
- ----------------------
-
- If your Sonic the Hedgehog (TM) CD game does not automatically start when
- you insert the CD-ROM, it may be because the Windows (R) 95 operating
- system has not enabled your CD-ROM drive for AutoPlay operation.
- To enable your CD-ROM drive for AutoPlay:
-
- 1. Click the Start button, and then point to Settings.
- 2. Click Control Panel.
- 3. Double-click the System icon.
- 4. Click the Device Manager tab in the System Properties window.
- 5. Click the + symbol to the left of the CD-ROM drive icon.
- 6. Click the CD-ROM drive you want to enable for AutoPlay, and
- then click the Properties button.
- 7. Click the Settings tab.
- 8. Click the Auto insert notification check box, and verify that
- a check mark displays.
- 9. Click OK.
- 10. Click OK in the System Properties windows.
-
- ----------------------------------------------------
- SWITCHING GAME PLAY BETWEEN A WINDOW AND FULL SCREEN
- ----------------------------------------------------
-
- Remember that you can always switch game play between a small active
- window and a full screen display. To change game viewing modes, press F4
- or select Full Screen under the Options menu. (If the menu bar is not
- visible, press F5).
-
- Always use F4 to return to the active window view from a Full Screen game
- (the menu bar never appears in a Full Screen display).
-
- --------------------------
- AUDIO CD PLAY APPLICATIONS
- --------------------------
-
- If your system has more than one CD-ROM drive and you decide to play the
- game using a CD-ROM drive that is now playing audio CDs, be sure to close
- all applications that use that CD-ROM drive to play audio CDs.
- Otherwise, you will not hear the game's background music and the system may
- display an MMSYSTEM ERROR message. Other game play actions are not
- affected.
-
- ----------------------
- PICTURES IN SONIC HELP
- ----------------------
-
- If you use complex color pictures for your desktop background, the colors of
- some pictures in the Sonic Help may not display correctly. You can correct
- this by using a desktop background that has only one color when you view
- help.
-
- -----------
- GAME PAUSES
- -----------
-
- Slight pauses may occur during game play. These pauses usually occur when
- the game changes background music and are caused by the CD-ROM as it moves
- to the new track. It is not an audio or video problem.
-
- ----------------
- NUMBER OF COLORS
- ----------------
-
- The Sonic the Hedgehog CD requires that your monitor be set to display
- 256 colors before you begin game play. For information about setting the
- number of colors your monitor will display, see the Windows help file.
-
- While playing the Sonic the Hedgehog CD, do not change the display
- properties color settings, screen resolution, or the video display driver.
- Otherwise, error messages may start displaying.
-
- Color shifting may occur during game play if any program that uses many
- colors is also running during game play. To eliminate this possibility,
- exit these programs before starting the Sonic the Hedgehog CD.
-
- ----------------------------
- MINIMIZING GAME CAUSES PAUSE
- ----------------------------
-
- If you minimize the Sonic the Hedgehog CD window while playing an active
- game, the game automatically pauses. When you restore the game window,
- the game resumes play from where you left off.
-
- If you pause the Sonic the Hedgehog CD game and then minimize the game
- window, the game will come up paused when you restore the game window.
- To resume game play, press F3 or select Pause Game on the Game menu.
-
- ------------------------
- INTERACTION WITH FLEXICD
- ------------------------
-
- If FlexiCD is installed on your computer and you restart it with the
- Sonic the Hedgehog CD in the CD-ROM drive, the audio tracks on the CD may
- begin playing automatically even though the game is not running.
- To eliminate this condition:
-
- 1. Use Windows Explorer and right-click the file:
- C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\FlexiCD
- 2. Select Properties.
- 3. Click the Shortcut tab of the property sheet.
- 4. In the Target box, change
- C:\Windows\FlexiCD.exe /resume
- to
- C:\Windows\FlexiCD.exe /play
- 5. Click the OK button.
- 6. Restart your computer.
-
- -------------
- SCREEN SAVERS
- -------------
-
- While playing the Sonic the Hedgehog CD, the Screen Saver feature is
- disabled. However, when you pause or minimize the game and choose a
- different active window, the Screen Saver feature is again enabled.
-
- --------------------------
- NEW GAME CHOICE DISAPPEARS
- --------------------------
-
- The New Game choice on the title screen disappears when all the Saved Games
- Data-File positions are in use. When this happens you must delete one of
- the Saved Games before you can start a new game. For information about
- deleting a Saved Game, see the "Saved Game, Deleting" index entry in
- Sonic Help.
-
- ---------
- FAX/MODEM
- ---------
-
- Some FAX/Modem software has been observed to have problems transmitting
- and receiving a FAX over five pages in length while playing the Sonic
- the Hedgehog CD. If you experience modem problems during game play, try
- pausing or minimizing the active game during incoming and outgoing FAX
- messages.
-
-
- -------------------------
- DISAPPEARING MOUSE CURSOR
- -------------------------
-
- With certain graphic adapters, it has been observed that the mouse
- cursor does not immediately appear after exiting Sonic the Hedgehog CD
- from a full screen display. The cursor will return once you move the
- mouse. To prevent this problem, press the F4 key to return to the
- small window before exiting the game.
