  2.                  MIDIART Command Keys  -  Quick Reference Guide

  5. The following is a list of command keys and function keys that the MIDIART
  6. program will respond to as it is playing music and creating graphics.  For
  7. a more detailed description of the functions of each key, refer to the on-line
  8. help file.  Note that some keys are in upper case, which means you must press
  9. the SHIFT key before the key itself.

  12.    Key            Function

  15.     s             Stops the music and clears the screen.
  16.  
  17.     r             Rewinds back to beginning of the current song.
  18.  
  19.     p             Begins playing music and creating graphics.  (Used after 's')
  20.  
  21.     q             Quits program and returns back to Windows.
  22.  
  23.     ESC           Same as 'q'.
  24.  
  25.     h             Puts MIDIART in the background.  Music continues to play.
  26.  
  27.     c             Clears the screen and selects a new set of random colors.
  28.  
  29.     C             Starts random color cycling.  Most effective when used with
  30.                   function key F2.  Press this key again to stop color cycling.
  31.  
  32.     n             Begins playing the next song in the play list.
  33.  
  34.     b             Begins playing the previous song in the play list.

  36.     i             Selects a new Image Generator.  (Next one in list)
  37.  
  38.     I             Selects a new Image Generator.  (Previous one in list)

  40.     F1            Brings up the MIDIART configuration dialog.
  41.  
  42.     +             Increases the tempo or playback speed of the current song.
  43.  
  44.     -             Decreases the tempo or playback speed of the current song.
  45.  
  46.     1 - 9         Selects a MIDI channel number to control with the commands
  47.                   below.  Key '0' selects MIDI channel 10 and SHIFT followed
  48.           by keys 1 through 6 select MIDI channels 11 through 16.
  49.  
  50.     UP-ARROW      Increases the volume of the instrument on the selected MIDI
  51.                   channel.  Use with SHIFT key to affect all instruments.
  52.  
  53.     DOWN-ARROW    Decreases the volume of the instrument on the selected MIDI
  54.                   channel.  Use with SHIFT key to affect all instruments.

  61.     RIGHT-ARROW   Selects the next instrument in the General MIDI list on the
  62.                   current MIDI channel.  Use with SHIFT to skip 10 instruments.

  64.     LEFT-ARROW    Selects the previous instrument in the General MIDI list on
  65.                   the current MIDI channel.  Use with SHIFT to skip by 10.

  67.     ]             Transposes the pitch of the instrument on the selected MIDI
  68.                   channel up one octave.

  70.     [             Transposes the pitch of the instrument on the selected MIDI
  71.                   channel down one octave.

  73.     m             Mutes the instrument on the selected MIDI channel.

  75.     M             Mutes all instruments on all MIDI channels.

  79.     Graphics control Functions:

  82.     F2            Starts the collage effect.  Objects created by the Image
  83.                   Generator are left on the screen.  Press this key again
  84.           to reverse the effect.

  86.     F3            Slows down the movement of graphic objects being created.
  87.  
  88.     F4            Speeds up the movement of graphic objects being created.
  89.  
  90.     F5            Decreases the size of graphic objects being created.
  91.  
  92.     F6            Increases the size of graphic objects being created.

  94.     F7            Increases the shrink rate of graphic objects.

  96.     F8            Increases the expand rate of graphic objects.
