- AnimalIcons.LZH - Colorized by DAB - the English Import during '92
-
-
- What?
- -----
-
- This is a collection of 8-color Icons featuring Animal subjects.
-
- PLEASE NOTE: I take no credit for the original artwork, all I did was
- color them in to make them, in my opinion, more interesting for a color
- computer. I do not know who the original artist/s was/were, I got these
- icon images from a public domain disk in England where they were already
- freely available and had no accompanying credits. Whoever the artists
- were, they deserve the credit for their creative talent.
-
- Please read the bit at the end about palette colors. Note that I haven't
- touched the first four default DOS2.04 colors so if you use these you
- don't have to screw up your existing WorkBench. Of course, if you've
- already changed these.......
-
- Why?
- ----
-
- I don't subscribe to the boring, dismal grey of WorkBench 2.04 and
- therefore thought it my duty to introduce some colors to its drab
- appearance.
-
- How?
- ----
-
- I used the shareware Icon Editor IE V2.0 by Peter KIEM to color these
- images. I like IE because it uses wahtever palette you have defined,
- and handles Large icons. But please, please Peter, how about an Undo
- Option ?!?
-
- Because IE has no fancy pattern fills I had to do the dithering of
- the colors by hand. This was a long and tedious process but worth
- it to brighten up these otherwise monochrome images.
-
- Having configured my WorkBench for 8 colors (read your AmigaDOS2.04 ,manual
- if unsure about how to do this using Prefs programs) I set up the palette
- as follows.
-
-
- Color Red Green Blue
- ----- --- ----- ----
-
- 0 - Grey 10 10 10 (DEFAULT)
- 1 - Black 0 0 0 (DEFAULT)
- 2 - White 15 15 15 (DEFAULT)
- 3 - Blue 6 8 11 (DEFAULT)
- 4 - DarkBlue 0 0 14
- 5 - Green 0 11 0
- 6 - Yellow 14 11 0
- 7 - Red 14 0 0
-
- Note I didn't change the first four colors, the defaults for a four color
- WorkBench, because I know how irritating it can be to have to completely
- revamp the appearance of your screen and existing icons.
-
- Naturally, you can play around with these settings, but don't be suprised
- if some of the icons look a bit weird. Of course, you can always recolor
- them if you like.
