- Basic SCSI docs
- ---------------
- The SCSI specs themselves are available from the ISO rep in each
- country. In the USA this is ANSI; in Canada The Standards Council of
- Canada. These docs tend to be expensive, so check your local tech
- library first.

- The European Computer Manufacturers Association (ECMA) has also
- prepared a standard on SCSI. It is known as: Standard ECMA-111 and was

- SCSI: Understanding the Small Computer System Interface
- This book mostly covers SCSI-1, but does explain the relationship
- of SCSI-1 and SCSI-2. It is especially well-suited for those who want
- to learn about SCSI without wading through all the legalistic stuff in
- the standard. I was told the price is in the $15 - $20 range.
-
- The SCSI Bench Reference
- This publication is aimed at engineers and technical support
- personnel who are working with SCSI and don't want to lug around the
- standard. It is based on the SCSI-2 standard (~600 pages), but it omits
- a lot of the less-commonly needed information to get down to less than
- 200 pages. I think its best added value is in its excellent timing
- diagrams -- some engineers just can't relate to the English timing
- descriptions in the SCSI standards. This book is pricey at $195, but
- they do offer deep discounts for additional copies ordered at the same
- time.

- Magazines
- ---------
- Many magazine articles have been written about SCSI. One good way
- to find them is to get ahold of Applied Science & Technology Index to
- Periodicals at your local library & check out the Small Computer System
- Interface (SCSI) articles listed.
- Among these are:
-
- BYTE, May/86, Page 85, Steve Ciarcia, Adding SCSI tothe SB180 computer
- BYTE, June/86, Page 107, Steve Ciarcia, Bus Phases
- COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY REVIEW, Spring/88, Page 51, Daniel Loski,
- Recommended Sequence of SCSI Commands for a software driver
- THE COMPUTER JOURNAL, Nos 22,23,24,25,26,28,31,33, Rick Lehrbaum
