- You must also have the AmigaDos command "type" in your Sys:c directory
- in order to print any files. This program was tested under AmigaDos 2.0.
-
- ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
-
- Getting started:
-
- First delete all the files from your unregistered copy of FoodProcessor.
- After examining the disk and reviewing this file, you must edit the installer
- script file to your own directory path for FoodProcessor. Its default is
- Sys:Processor. If your hard drive is called DH0:, just change the Sys: to DH0:.
- Save the script and double click the installer icon. It will create the Processor
- directory on the drive you chose and then copy all necessary text files to Text
- and DataBase along with the program itself. It will also copy the
- DeckBrowser to Sys:c.
-
- These paths are necessary for the program to run properly.
-
- To launch the program, just double click on its icon.
- The program itself can reside in any directory you want as long as the Text and
- Database directories are in the program's directory!!

-
- Main Menu:
-
- When the program loads, you'll see the Main Menu screen.
- The three buttons on the left move you around the program.
-
- "Grocery Menu" - one click takes you to the Grocery Designer
- "DataBase" - one click takes you to the Recipe DataBase
- "Quit" - one click cleans all memory used by Food Processor,
- and takes you back to the WorkBench.
-

- A click here tells you a little about the program and its author.
-
- ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
-
- Grocery Menu:
-
- If you clicked the "Grocery Menu" button, you've now entered the first half
- of the Food Processor. This is the first of two screens comprising the
- Grocery Designer. The three buttons on the left move you around the program.
-
- "View List" - one click takes you to screen number two of the Grocery
- Designer, where you do your actual list building.
- "DataBase" - one click takes you to the Recipe DataBase.
- "Quit" - one click cleans all memory used by Food Processor,
- and takes you back to the WorkBench.
-
- ||||||||||||||||| Category Buttons:
-
- Along the bottom of this screen are all the grocery categories you will use
- to select items you want to add to your grocery list.
-
- If for instance, you need some milk this week, click on the "Dairy" button.
- It will automatically bring you to the Grocery List screen and display the
- Dairy category. The same goes for all of the other category buttons.
- Each will take you to the Grocery List screen loading its corresponding
- category list.
-
- You can edit these lists easily, each is its own text file in the text folder.
- Important: edit the files into one column of text only and save under the
- same filename, or Food Processor will not locate the proper path nor
- will it be able to sort the lists properly.
-
- ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
-
- Grocery List Designer:
-
- You have arrived here by either clicking on a category button or by selecting
- the ÒView ListÓ option at the Grocery Menu screen. If you selected a category
- button to get here, you see a list of different food items in the left hand
- window and the category title above that window. You will use these items
- to build your grocery list. If you selected ÒView ListÓ to get here, you find
- the left hand window is empty and no title is displayed. The "View List"
- allows you to move to this window without loading any category.
- At this point, the right hand window is blank. That's because you haven't
- started your grocery list yet! This screen also has four button functions
- and numerous menu options accessible with the right mouse button.
- Each function will be explained as we build our first grocery list.
-
- |||||||||||||||||||||| Design a grocery list:
-
- To build your grocery list, start by loading a category to choose from.
- Click on the "Grocery Menu" button to return to the previous screen
- (the Grocery Menu). Select a category to start building your list by
- clicking once on the name of the category. You've returned to the
- Grocery List designer with the category list displayed in the left window.
- Double click on one of the items on the list. It is copied into the
- list window on the right!
-
- Continue building your list this way. When you need to switch categories,
- just click the "Grocery Menu" button and select a new category. Your
- grocery list in progress will not be lost if you move around the
- Food Processor screens.
-
- ||||||||||||||| Edit Functions:
-
- If you have a value coupon for an item, click once on the item in
- the grocery list window to highlight it, then click once on the "Coupon"
- button at the top. An asterisk is added to the item name to denote a coupon.
-
- OOps, added a coupon by mistake? Just select the line that you've
- added the coupon asterisk to and then select "Undo Coupon" from the
- "Edit" menu or "Right-Amiga U" from the keyboard and the asterisk will
- be gone leaving the Item name intact.
-
- To delete an item from the list just highlight it and select
- "Delete Line" from the "Edit" menu or "Right-Amiga D" from the keyboard.
-
- To UNdelete a line, just select "Undelete Line" from the "Edit"
- menu or "Right-Amiga R" from the keyboard, and the last line you deleted
- will reappear. However, this feature will not retype a deleted line after
- you've performed another task. The Undelete must be selected immediately
- after the Delete.
-
- ||||||||||||||| File Functions:
-
- Food Processor allows you to save a grocery list either in progress, or
- one you've finished. Just choose "Save List" from the "File" menu or
- "Right-Amiga S" from the keyboard and your list (right hand window) will be
- saved to your Sys: directory under the name "GroceryList". Your list will
- always be saved to Sys: with the name GroceryList.
-
- For opening a saved list, choose "Open List" from the "File" menu or
- "Right-Amiga O" from the keyboard and a file requester will appear asking
- you which file to open.
-
- You can also clear the list you have on the screen by selecting
- "Clear List" from the "File" menu or "Right-Amiga C" from the keyboard.
- The right hand window will clear instantly, allowing you to start
- a fresh list.
-
-
- Food Processor will print your list. You must have the AmigaDos command
- "Type" in your Sys:c directory. If so, select "Print List" from the "File"
- menu or "Right-Amiga P" from the keyboard and the program will
- auto save the file to Ram: then proceed to print it.
-
- ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
-
- Recipe DataBase:
-
- When you select a DataBase button from anywhere in the program,
- you are taken to the DataBase screen. The DataBase keeps a set of Recipes
- on file, each accessible with a mere double click of the mouse.
- The recipe can then be viewed, edited, deleted, saved, or printed right from this program. You can easily print
- a list of all your recipe titles, add new titles and search for titles.
- Upon opening, the DataBase screen will automatically display the
- list of recipes you have in your Processor/DataBase folder. Each is a
- simple text file, so you can easily add to and take from these entries
- right from the program. If you do not see the recipes, check your path,
- make sure the DataBase directory is in the same directory with Food Processor.
-
- Along the top of the screen are four buttons:
-
- "Print Entries"- One click will print the list of entries displayed
- in the left window.
- (You must have "type" in you Sys:c directory)
- "Save Recipe"- One click will save the recipe displayed in the
- right window.
-
- IMPORTANT: The recipe will be saved with the filename of the title at the TOP
- of that window. If you're editing a file, and want to save your changes, make
- sure the title is the same or you will have a Save As rather than a save.
- If there's nothing in the first line, the program will tell you,
- it can't save without a filename. Save as ONE WORD filenames or they will not
- be deletable from within the program.
-
- "Print Display"- One click will print the recipe you are displaying
- in the right window.
- (You must have "type" in your Sys:c directory)
- "Quit"- Like the others throughout the program,
- it will flush memory (clean up) and
- quit to the WorkBench.
-
- ||||||||||||||||||||||| Load a Recipe:
-
- Just double click on the title in the left hand window.
- Edit the recipe by clicking in the display window on the right, a cursor
- will appear. Both windows have scroll bars to see more text.
-
- "Status" window keeps you abreast of the activities of the program.
-
- ||||||||||||||||||||||| Adding, editing, searching for and deleting recipes:
-
- ADD a new recipe by clicking the "Add" button.
- Type the title of the new recipe. Upon a carriage return, the title will
- automatically be placed in the display window. Now you can type in your
- new entry. Save when you're done and the list on the left will
- automatically be updated to show your new entry.
-
- EDIT a recipe in the display window by simply positioning the cursor and
- typing any changes.
-
- SEARCH the titles for a specific recipe by clicking on the "Search"
- button, then enter the text you wish to search for in the Search field.
- Hit return and the program will search the titles for the first
- occurence of a match. The program will not auto-load the found
- recipe, it will merely position the cursor on that line. You still must
- double click on the title to load it.
-
- DELETE a recipe title by clicking first on the "Delete" button.
- Now type the name of the recipe exactly as it is named and press
- return. You must be exact with the name in order to delete the
- recipe. (I did this to avoid accidental deleting). The title list window
- will refresh to show you the recipe is now gone.
-
- ||||||||||||||||||||||||||| Menus:
-
- File Menu:
-
- Refresh List (right-Amiga U) Updates your titles in the left window.
- Clear Recipe (right-Amiga C) Erases the current recipe in the
- display window
- Save Recipe (right-Amiga S) Saves the current recipe in the display window
- Print DataBase:

- Print Recipe (right-Amiga R) prints the current recipe in the display window
-
