  2.  The Search & Replace function lets you define the
  3.  transaction PAY / DESC description to search for and the
  4.  description to replace it with.  Any viewable
  5.  transaction in the Transaction List which matches the
  6.  defined description will be highlighted and its
  7.  description replaced.

  11.  The following list describes the functions available in
  12.  the Search & Replace Requester.  The order of these
  13.  functions corresponds to the order they appear in the
  14.  requester's menu bar.  You can select any function using
  15.  either the keyboard (shown as "Keyboard:") or mouse
  16.  ("Mouse:").

  23.        Accept the defined search and replace descriptions
  24.        and proceeds from the current position in the
  25.        Transaction List to locate the first transaction
  26.        which matches the description and replace its

  45.     Use Wildcards
  46.  
  47.        Toggle the use (YES or NO) of the wildcard
  48.        characters, '?' and '*', for pattern matching
  49.        purposes.

  51.        If used (YES), the '?' character will match any
  52.        single character while the '*' will match zero or
  53.        more successive characters.

  55.        If not used (NO), the Search For description will
  56.        be taken verbatim, meaning that a transaction must
  57.        match all characters exactly.  You would use this
  58.        if the description contained either or both of the
  59.        wildcard characters.  If the Case Sensitive option
  60.        is selected, the descriptions do not necessarily
  61.        have to match verbatim, although the spelling of
  62.        both descriptions must match.

  69.        Toggle the requirement (YES or NO) that for two
  70.        descriptions to match, they must both match in
  71.        spelling and case.

  73.        If required (YES), the Search For description will
  74.        only match a transaction's PAY / DESC description
  75.        if both are spelled the same and the case of each
  76.        letter is the same.

  78.        If not required (NO), the Search For description
  79.        will match any transaction PAY / DESC description
  80.        that is spelled the same.

  87.        Toggle the verification (YES or NO) of each
  88.        replacement of the Search For description with
  89.        the Replace With description.  This option
  90.        toggles off (NO) the Global Replacement option.

  92.        If verify (YES), each match will produce a request
  93.        verifying if that the current transaction should be
  94.        modified.

  96.        If no verify (NO), each match will be replaced with
  97.        the Replace With description without any user
  98.        intervention.  This effectively replaces all
  99.        matches fairly quickly.

  104.     Global Replacement

  106.        Toggle the ability (YES or NO) of replacing all
  107.        transactions in the checkbook (and not just those
  108.        currently viewable in the Transaction List) whose
  109.        PAY / DESC description matches the Replace With
  110.        description without verification from the user.
  111.        This option toggles off (NO) the Verify Replacement
  112.        option.

  114.        If global (YES), each match in the entire checkbook
  115.        will be replaced, without prompting of the user,
  116.        and the checkbook entries that matched will be
  117.        updated.

  119.        If not global (NO), only those transactions
  120.        currently viewable in the Transaction List will be
  121.        analyzed for a matching PAY / DESC description.

  137.        the previous description.  If the cursor is
  138.        currently in the Replace With input field and this
  139.        function is selected, the selected description will
  140.        be placed in the Replace With input field.  If the
  141.        cursor is not shown at all, the selected
  142.        description will be placed in the Search For input
  143.        field.

  159.        search for.  The search function is case-sensitive,
  160.        which means that the Search For description will
  161.        only generate a match if it is exactly the same as
  162.        a transaction's description.
