- This conversion program represents a great deal of effort on the part of
- Black Belt Systems and it's employees. Much of this effort has gone into
- researching the many different file formats that are supported. Despite
- our best efforts, it is sometimes difficult or impossible to obtain
- complete and detailed information on these formats and we rely on a few
- example pictures to more or less guess what the layout is.
-
-
- To help you aid us in our efforts, please use the following guidelines
- if you find a new format that we don't as yet support, or if you find
- that an image in one of the supported formats does not convert correctly.
-
-
- 1. Write a brief note describing the following:
-
- - what format the image is supposed to be in
- - the size (width and height) of the image if known
- - the color resolution (256 color, 24 bit color) if known
- - how the image was produced (Deluxe Paint, Sculpt 3D etc.)
- - what the image is supposed to look like
-
- 2. If you have the ability to create images in the format in question
- (i.e. you own the program that creates the image), then you can
- help us even more by creating an image that is easily described.
- It should contain a chunk of pure red, green and blue and ideally
- would contain some text to help us get the correct orientation.
- Make sure that you describe the image well enough so that we know
- which chunk is red, which is green and which is blue, and if you
- can't create text, at least make sure that we can easily identify
- the correct vertical and horizontal orientation.
-
- 3. Put the image and your note into a .lzh type of arc and upload it
- to our BBS. You will be notified if and when we upgrade convert to
- correctly handle your format.

- Ray traced images in particular can be quite deceptive. Swapping the red,
- green and blue components of these types of images frequently yields
- images that look quite acceptable in their own right (i.e. a red, a green
- and a blue sphere will yield a blue, a green and a red sphere). It
- is also quite possible that a ray traced image will look just as impressive
- upside down or flipped left to right. We're not saying that you shouldn't
- send us these, but if you do, then you should adequately describe them.
-
- Included in this distribution is a simple four color IFF showing the ideal
- example picture. It's name is "NewFormat.pic". Notice that there is enough
- information in the picture to correctly identify the orientation, and the
- correct color scheme.
-
-
- Happy converting!
