- KeyMapEd - Notes
-
- The KeyMap Editor loads and saves the keymaps from 'devs:keymaps'. You must
- place any keymap you wish to edit in that directory. Since SetMap also
- requires its keymaps in this location, this should not be a problem.
-
- I also wish to stress how SetMap works. Once you have SetMap a keymap, it
- stays in memory even after you SetMap something else. Whenever you do
- a SetMap, the list of keymaps already loaded is compared against the
- filename of the keymap you wish to load. If the keymap is already in the
- list, it is not loaded again but simply reused. 'SetMap usa' will use
- the ROM keymap, so don't bother naming a keymap this since it will never
- get loaded.
-
- The name of the keymap is hardcoded within the keymap when it is saved out.
- Therefore, renaming a keymap is not recommended.
-
- I would personally like to see a 'replace' option with SetMap so you could
- force it to replace something you have already loaded (listening CBM?).
-
- When using the ROM keymap, remember that an A1000s ROM keymap is named USA,
- and with AmigaOS 1.3/2.0, the ROM keymap is named USA1 on A500/A2000/A3000.
- This is important since if you name your keymap the same as the one in ROM,
- SetMap will NEVER use yours since the ROM keymap is already there...
-
- I have not included any keymaps with this distribution. You'll find all the
- keymaps you could want on the Extras disk provided with AmigaOS 2.0/1.3/1.2
-
- KeyMapEd does NOT support Double-Dead keys. They will be lost if you edit
- a keymap with them.
