  10.                           About This Release

  12.    There  was  a  more  or less serious bug in the bitmap reader Zoom!
  13. used  to  determine which blocks were to be skipped before compression
  14. causing  Zoom!   to  emit  partly corrupt archive files.  This bug has
  15. been  fixed,  thanks  to Michael Beer who discovered this undocumented
  16. feature  and  who was able to send me a sample disk which produced the
  17. error!
  18.    Older  Zoom!   releases will still work correctly provided that the
  19. `clear  unused  blocks'  option  is not in effect.  Strange enough the
  20. error  was  happening  at  random  and very rarely as well; your older
  21. Zoom!  archives may still be intact.
  22.    This  release  is  contained in a new self-extracting archive which
  23. was  put together in roughly two hours time.  Nevertheless the archive
  24. file  is  smaller  than  in the previous release (about 20 KBytes).  I
  25. will  try  to  rewrite  the  archive  utility  to use Lh in the future
  26. (believe  it or not, the archive header was written in `C' and is just
  27. 604 bytes in size).

  31.    This  release is being distributed in the form of a self-extracting
  32. archive  file.  To obtain the distribution files, enter the Shell/CLI,
  33. type  `ZOOM.EXE' and press return, the following files will be created
  34. in the current directory (it may take quite a while):

  46.    Use  the CRC utility to verify if the `ZOOM.EXE' file is in correct
  47. state  (enter `CRC ZOOM.EXE' and press return).  The WRAP checksums of
  48. all executable files should be zero.
