- Help Document
-
- WorldTime is a program designed to display the time in 60
- places in various parts of the world.
-
- This program requires at least 512k of RAM to run.
-
- This program contains the following files:
- WorldTime - The program
- WorldTime.info - The program icon
- Help.Doc & About.Doc - Program documentation files
-
- NOTE: The program requires Help.Doc & About.Doc
- or it will not run, so please keep these
- files together with the program if you
- distribute it to anyone!
-
- Setting up the program:
- To set up the program, place all the files in a drawer
- named WorldTime on a floppy disk or hard drive.
- Assign WorldTime: to the appropriate path where this
- drawer resides on your floppy disk or hard drive. The
- assign can be made each time from the shell before the
- program is run or can be placed in the startup-sequence
- of the S directory on the disk which you boot from.
-
- The reference time:
- All times are referenced against New York, which is set
- equal to the system time of your computer's hardware clock.
- The time is displayed in military (24 hour) time, where
- 00:00 is midnight, and 12:00 is noon.
-
- Setting the reference time:
- If you live in New York, or any other State in the United
- States which is on Eastern Standard Time (EST), then just
- set and save your system time to the correct time using
- preferences, and all of WorldTime's clocks will display
- their proper time.
-
- If you live in a location which is not in the same time
- zone as New York, then you must temporarily change your
- computer's system time to the correct time in New York,
- or none of the times on any of the clocks will be accurate.
- To do this, just set your system time to the correct time
- in New York from preferences and select "USE" (not "SAVE)
- before you start WorldTime.
-
- Future versions of this program may incorporate a way to
- set the New York time inside of WorldTime, without changing
- your system time. More time banks will also be added (sorry
- if your particular geographic location isn't available yet).
-
- Running the program:
- The program consists of two time banks - each containing
- thirty clocks. The name of each geographic location next to
- it's time is a gadget - which will open a smaller window
- displaying just the time for that particular location if
- single clicked on with the left mouse button. To return to
- that time bank, click on the close gadget in the small
- window. To move to the next time bank, click on the arrow
- gadget in the bottom right hand corner of the time bank.
- There are three pull down menus, which are accessible
- from either time bank: Help, About, and Quit. Help and
- About give information about using and distributing the
- program, respectively. Quit exits the program.
-
- The number preceded by a + or - sign in each of the
- location gadgets corresponds to the time in hours which
- the location is ahead or behind New York, respectively.
- A value of +0 indicates that the location has the same
- time as New York.
-
- By running several copies of WorldTime simultaneously, it
- is possible to have several little time windows (each
- displaying the time of a different geographic location)
- open on your workbench screen. They will all be initially
- superimposed over each other, but can be moved with the
- mouse to any convenient location. The amount of RAM you
- have in your computer is the major limiting factor to the
- number of copies of this program you can run simultaneously.
