- "The Fractal Gallery" by Louis Markoya
-
- The scientific acceptance, and study of Chaos shall in the future (and present
- for some) be looked at as revolutionary, astounding and profound. Not unlike
- the teachings of far eastern Philosophy, Chaos is a thread which binds all
- together, and makes much of nature and life understandable, even better,
- defined. Weather, the eye of Jupiter, liquid turbulence and even human life
- experiences can be comfortably understood and scientifically explained by chaos
- and its strange attractors. As the study of Chaos becomes more acceptable and
- the realm of particle physics falls to its weightiness the true meaning of the
- beauty and attraction to fractals will be better understood. It is within the
- whorls of these fractals, on the edge of the Mandelbrot set, Julia set and
- other mathematic figures, that Angels and fairies reside. With this spirit in
- mind I have created the picture "The Fractal Gallery". I have used fractals in
- several of my works before but in this one pay Homage to them. The Fractal
- Gallery is a Turbo Silver raytrace, untouched by any other program except to
- add the name. However to create the picture I utilized several other programs.
- The Walls, floor, ceiling, pictures and spheres have all been mapped with
- fractals generated with HAMandel, a 256 color HAM fractal generator from
- MegadeM. In the glass case on the marble stand is a Serpinski gasket, formed
- with Analytic Art, brought into silver as a stencil, then mapped as a brush and
- given the characteristic of a lamp, which causes the green hued glows about it.
- The Koch snowflakes on the back wall are 3D objects. The columns and pedestal
- are wrapped in marble and the slight reflection of the floor and back walls is
- created by using the glossy feature. Louis Markoya is an engineer independently
- experimenting as a computer artist. His fine art background includes several
- one man shows and an apprenticeship with Salvador Dali.
