  3. The Smooth command is used to create
  4. a nice even downhill slope from
  5. taller contours to a shorter
  6. contours.  The Smooth command
  7. operates on two endpoint contours.
  8.  
  9. The Smooth command is typically used
  10. in conjunction with the Set command.
  11. The Set command can be used to set
  12. the two endpoint contour's heights.
  13. The Smooth command is used to change
  14. the heights of the contours in
  15. between.

  17. Here are the typical steps for using
  18. the Smooth command:

  20.   1. Set contour "A"'s height using
  21.      the Set command.
  22.  
  23.   2. Set contour "B"'s height using
  24.      the Set command.
  25.  
  26.   3. Press the Smooth command
  27.      gadget.
  28.  
  29.   4. Press contour "A"'s pen gadget.

  31. The results of the Smooth command
  32. depends on contour "A" and "B"'s
  33. contour number, and their heights.

  35. If the contour with the lower
  36. contour number is taller than the
  37. contour with the higher number,
  38. then the contours in between have
  39. a nice downhill slope that depends
  40. on height difference between the
  41. contour "A" and contour "B".

  43. If the contour with the higher
  44. contour number is taller than the
  45. other contour, the contours height's
  46. decrease by one.
