  6.   Due to the long hours spent working on the program for Moria, we have had
  7. no time (or talent) to create pictures for the game.  Thus, we have decided
  8. to  once  again  do  what no other public domain game has ever done before.
  9. Run a Moria art contest!  There were two winners in our first contest.  The
  10. picture  that comes up at the beginning of Moria was sent in by Peter Gage.
  11. The  picture  that  appears when you enter the dungeon was sent in by Vaugn
  12. Reavis and Nat Stillmaker.
  13.  
  14.   The  game  needs  three  more  pictures to enhance it's playability.  One
  15. picture  for  the  town,  one  for  when you die, and another, for the very
  16. unlikely  event  that someone might win.  Three prizes will be awarded, one
  17. prize  for each of the above categories (town, death, winning).  The prizes
  18. will  be  $25.00  and  your name in the credits for the game.  (Total prize
  19. money is $75).

  21. How it Works:

  23.   1. You read the rules (This step is optional but highly recommended).
  24.   2. You draw (or digitize) a picture of your own creation.
  25.   3. You send us a disk(s) with a COPY of your picture(s) on it (stored in
  26.      IFF form (not pasted to the side)) by June 1st. A self-addressed
  27.      stamped envelope (SASE) sent along with your picture disk will ensure
  28.      the return of your disk(s).
  29.   4. We judge the art and decide which is best (by June 10th).
  30.   5. If you win, we mail you $25.00 and your disk(s) along with Moria 4.0.
  31.   6. If you lose, and have sent a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE)
  32.      with your picture disk, we will mail you your disk(s) along with
  33.      Moria 4.0.
  34.   7. If you lose, and did NOT send a SASE, we keep the disk(s).

  37. Rules:

  39.   1. All pictures must be original (we don't want to be sued for putting
  40.      it in Moria) material. Digitized pictures are fine IF, they are from
  41.      original materials (NO Frazetta rip offs).
  42.   2. All pictures must be on a 3.5" disk in IFF format (Deluxe Paint, Photon
  43.      Paint, DigaPaint, AegisImages, IntroCad, ...).
  44.   3. Pictures will be released as part of the public domain game "Moria"
  45.      (Version 4.0).
  46.   4. If no pictures are received for a given category (Town, Death, Winning)
  47.      then no prize will be awarded for that category. (Who would we give it
  48.      to?).  Note: no prizes were awarded in our first contest for the death
  49.      or winner pictures because we did not receive any entries.
  50.   5. We reserve the right to replace any or all pictures in versions of Moria
  51.      released after December 1, 1989. (We may want to run another contest).

  64. Criteria:
  65.  
  66.   1. Appropriateness for one of the three pictures in Moria (Town, Death,
  67.      or Winning). (Hint: A picture of your favorite car is probably not
  68.      going to fit in the Moria motif.)
  69.   2. Artistic content as viewed by the judges.  We're going to pick the
  70.      pictures that look the best.
  71.   3. If you are a single female, a picture of yourself and a telephone
  72.      number may influence Bryan or Chip.
  73.   4. Bribes will be accepted.
