  3. Well, here it is. After much internal debate I have decided to take Browser
  4. as it is and release it as shareware, rather than polish it some more and try
  5. to make it a commercial product.
  6.  
  7.     - I'm not able to work on code for the Amiga as hard as I used to.
  8.       This has nothing to do with the computer... the real world is
  9.       imposing on my time.
  10.  
  11.     - I've run into some bugs in the current version of the Manx 'C'
  12.       compiler, version 3.6a, that are just too much trouble for me to
  13.       get a workaround done.
  14.  
  15.     - The largest commercial advantage to Browser, the ability to operate
  16.       on icon-less files, is rumored to appear in Workbench 1.4.
  17.  
  18.     - I've recieved word that someone else is working on a Browser. This
  19.       means WAR... :->

  21. I will continue to work on it, at a slower pace. Future enhancements like
  22. REXX ports and a regular command language will eventually get done. Releases
  23. will, paradoxically, come out faster. They could hardly be slower... :->
  24. Any donations you see fit to make, out of the goodness of your heart, will
  25. help speed this process up.

  29.     Multiple tools menus.
  30.     No close gadget on the browser window.
  31.     Smarter window positioning code.
  32.     CLI support!
  33.     Real-time updating of drag-bars.
  34.     Assignments appear in the browser window.
  35.     File sizes.
  36.     Selection of all files in a window.
  37.     Selection of files by pattern.
  38.     Duplicate file without having to move it to another volume.
  39.     Better checks for multiple volumes and hard disks.
  40.     Internally cleaner code.
  41.     Should support different fonts (not tested).
  42.     And lots more I can't think of at the moment.

  46.     The 'rename' menu item was broken. I'm not sure what's wrong, but when
  47. I send a rename packet it returns error 232: no directory slots available.
  48. I've gone back to my earlier workaround for the lack of a real two-lock
  49. rename function, and I'm releasing it immediately as Rev 1.6a.
  50.
