- MidiRouter Demo Disk
- ====================
-
- Version V0.1 - 11-20-88
-
- First Demo program of Miles Eddy's, 'MidiRouter' with note split point
- utility module and SoundScape bridge module. Based on the 'MIDI Lib'
- message passing routines written by Bill Barton.
-
- Changes
- -------
- v0.1 11-20-88 - First writing of free Demo.
- v0.2 11-30-88 - Update MidiRouter for version v2.0 of MidiLib
-
- Un-Packing MRouter1.arc
- -----------------------
-
- 1) Create a new directory and 'cd' to directory for ALL MidiRouter files
- 2) Copy MRouter1.arc to current directory
- 3) Make sure you have at least 474 blocks (216092 bytes) in your current
- directory. If you do not, you may move MRouter1.arc to another disk
- and unarc the file to this current directory and skip step 4. The
- end results of step 4 should be all the files in MRouter1.arc being
- in the current directory. The file MRouter1.arc itself does not have
- to be included.
- 4) Enter 'arc x MRouter1'. 'arc' is a PD program you should already have.
- 5) Enter 'execute fixarc1.bat' to rename the files from the arc to AMIGA
- file names. This will also make a second copy of the MidiRouter and
- SplitNote programs used with different .info files. In a later
- release I will make the .info files 'project' instead of 'tools' so
- that only one copy of the program needs to be on your disk.
- 6) There are two AMIGA library files used by MidiRouter or MidiLib.
- If you already have them, you are done. If not, copy the arc
- MRouter2.arc to your libs: directory. Enter 'arc x MRouter2'
- then 'execute fixarc2.bat' to extract and then rename the libraries
- Midi.library and arp.library. You may now delete MRouter2.arc,
- and fixarc2.bat. Midi.library is version 2.0 of MidiLib.

- BBS Support
- -----------
-
- A "Midi Age" message area is now set up on "The Musicians Den". The
- focus of this area is MidiRouter and utilities, Bill Bartons MidiLib,
- and third party software for SoundScape by Mimetics. It is my hope
- that this message area will be widely used and act as a central location
- for the above topics. I will be talking more about the software on this
- disk in addition to new utilities leading up to the first release of this
- product. I will include more examples and possibly more free utilities. It
- is also my may to talk to you directly to discover what YOU want in the line
- of new utilities.
-
- "The Musicians SnowBird Den" is reachable via PC Persuit and is in Phoenix.
- The number is:
-
- (602) 864-0244 (1200 baud)
- SYSOP: Andy Velasquez
-
- This number may change soon but if it does ask for "Musicians Den" on
- MIDI-NET (tm). It is my hope that once I start getting more support (from
- YOU) that I will set up my own BBS. But for now I would like to give Andy
- a special thanks for his help, and the use of his all to precious
- disk space! Thanks Andy!
-
-
- Acknowledgment
- ==============
-
- There are several people I wish to give special thanks to. First and
- formost is Bill Barton for writing MidiLib and for freely giving it to
- the Public Domain. Also for allowing me to use this software in a
- soon to be commercial product. Thanks Bill! Without you this product
- would not have been possible.
-
- I would also like to thank Andy Velasquez for being a supportive friend and
- for sharing his BBS with this project. His interest and enthusiasm
- for music and computers has been more of an encouragement to me than I think
- he realizes.
-
- I would also like to thank Todar Fay for his willingness to help me and
- for his help in providing the code I needed to get the PD programers kit
- for SoundScape working with version 3.4 of Aztec "C".
-
- Disclaimer
- ==========
-
- This Demo is given as is. No warranty is given or implied. The software
- is to be considered a PRE-release and is used at the users own risk. It
- is not the intent of this demo to demonstrate a working releasable
- product, but to give my fellow musician usable software while I make the
- final changes to what I hope to be my first product. The documentation
- included on this disk is considered minimal. More examples and documentation
- may be found on the "Musicians Den" BBS in the "Midi Age" message area.
- This demo demonstrates only some of the features of MidiRouter. Not all
- parts are working. The parts talked about in this document should work
- without problems. If you do have problems, PLEASE let me know so I can
- fix them.
-
- Enjoy!!!!
-
- Sorry
- -----
-
- I have already spent a great deal of time trying to get this demo together
- with enough documentation to be useful. But I am finding that I am spending
- all my time on this demo and not on moving forward in the code. So I am
- saying "sorry" for the fact that this documentation is full of spelling
- and other such errors. But at this point, I figure you would prefer to
- get what I have instead of waiting even longer for me to make everything
- perfect. When the time comes to write 'real' documentation, I will either
- take the time it needs or I will hire someone else to do it.
