- VirusX 3.1 Release Note:
-
- The reason for V3.1 of VirusX is because I got 2 new viruses since
- the V3.0 release.
-
- The reason for V3.0 of VirusX is to deal with the first non-bootblock
- Virus, the IRQ Virus.
-
- VirusX will find this virus on any disk inserted, and remove it, just
- like it does with the bootblock viruses. The difference is that
- the IRQ Virus can find it's way onto your hard drive.
-
- Rather than increasing the size of VirusX by a fair amount to have it
- handle Hard Disks, there is a separate utility called KV that will
- allow you to check your hard disk for this virus.
-
- What you should do is check the C: directory of your hard disk,
- and once you've done that, take a look at your startup-sequence.
- Use KV to check the first file found in your startup sequence -
- if the first line of your SS is "System/SetMap USA0" or something
- like that, then KV System/SetMap to make sure the SetMap command
- isn't infected.
-
- If worse comes to worst, run VirusX first, then run KV on every
- directory on your hard drive where executable programs live. Once
- you've gotten rid of it once, if you make sure you check any new
- programs carefully (with KV, or by having VirusX running when you
- test these programs), you're safe.
-
- Note that all this applies ONLY to the IRQ Virus V41. If you see
- any other incarnation of this same virus, Please send me a copy!
