  6. This animation was created with Sculpt-Animate 3D and finally rendered
  7. in photo mode with Sculpt-Animate 4D.  It is a 230 frame animation that
  8. that requires a minimum 1 MB Amiga.
  9.  
  10. The Gymnast has a long history.  It was the project I decided to work on
  11. after the BoingThrows animation.  The original version of this anim
  12. had 500 frames and ran at 30 frames / second.  You may have seen the
  13. wireframe version of the anim on PeopleLink or on Byte by Byte's Demo
  14. tape.  However the rendering time on my stock B2000 was over 9 hours a
  15. frame if I wanted photo mode with shadows.  Needless to say, I did not
  16. even want to attempt this on my machine, and several owners of more
  17. powerful machines (a 68020 and a 68030) offered to render it, but even
  18. those attempts failed to produce an animation (500 frames still takes
  19. a long time no matter what machine you use).

  21. So I reduced the length of the animation to 230 frames, and now it runs
  22. at 15 frames / second.  I also decided to try a new dismount since
  23. many people commented the wireframe dismount did not look humanly
  24. possible  (I can't believe how hard it is for me to convince people
  25. that Amiguy is NOT human :-).  And with the new faster rendering in
  26. Sculpt-Animate 4D this entire animation was finally rendered entirely
  27. on my machine at just about 1 hour and 15 minutes a frame.  Its
  28. obviously not as smooth as the wireframe, but sufficient for a RAM
  29. animation.

  31. One last note, this animation does include sound, however I have never
  32. professed to being an audio expert (actually I would say I'm not even
  33. a novice).  I included the sounds for fun, if you don't like my creaky
  34. high bar you have the option of turning down the volume or replacing the
  35. sounds with ones of your own choosing.  All of the audio files are
  36. included on this disk, so you should be able to synch your own digitized
  37. sounds to the animation.

  41. leave all of the files, including this one on the disk.
